In-Box Review
135
WWII British CW Tanker

by: greatbrit [ GREATBRIT ]

I decided to buy one of these figures after hearing good things about them in the forums. I bought mine from an eBay store for £6.50 so I am unsure of the list price. The figure is packaged in a very professional looking clear plastic box with a printed paper sleeve and the figure inside.

First impressions are "wow", if this figure is true 1/35 then almost every other manufacturer makes them hugely oversized. The only other figures I have ever seen of a similar size are some Resicast tankers.

The figure itself is very well cast in a grey resin that looks more like shiny plastic than resin, but it does hold a very good level of detail. The figure represents a British/commonwealth AFV crewman dressed in standard battledress with the leather jerkin on top. He is also wearing gauntlets, which I've not seen on any other 1/35 tanker. This dress is typical of a tankie in NW Europe 1944-45.

The figure is depicted holding his microphone in a casual pose, with a cutout in his back, meaning he is meant for a cupola or hatch. Also the microphone limits his use away from a vehicle.

The folds in the uniform are particularly good, being very crisp and realistic. As is the detail around the jerkin and pistol holster.

The figure is provided with two heads, which is a welcome feature. One has a beret with headphones, the other is the standard armoured corps helmet again with headphones but also goggles. Both have the same face.

The face, for me, is the poorest part of the figure. The detail around the eyes isn’t as crisp as the rest of the figure, but still very reasonable.

All in all a very good and very welcome figure that is a good addition to the small amount of British figures on the market. Hopefully this exciting new company will release many more!
