Dieppe 1942: Prelude to D-Day

by: Paul Seabrook [ HASTYP ]

Part of the Campaign series by Osprey, this book by Ken Ford and illustrated by Howard Gerrard is a great account of the Dieppe raid.

This book gives a full account of why this raid happened, information about opposing commanders, orders of battle for both armies and battle plans of each side. It gives full accounts from actual battle experiences about actions on all landing sites by the Canadians, British and US rangers. Also mentioned is details of the naval and air actions.

There is plenty of actual photographs of the beach sites after the battle and what they look like today. Detailed maps and illustrations of different stages of the battle and nicely accent this well researched battle account. The book is ended with details of the aftermath, lessons learned and the battlefield today.

This book is a must own for anyone interested in Canadian military history or in seaborne landings.

About Paul Seabrook (HastyP)
FROM: ONTARIO, CANADA

I started modeling in 2001 but in the last 3 yrs I moved to a new house and have built nothing. Everything is packed away until I finish my modeling area. I hope by summer it will be done. I am an avid military historian. I watch and read almost anything military from all time eras I can.
