Hi Bill, It was designed to clear mine fields as Tom says. It was towed to the edge of a mine field and un-hitched from either an AVRE or Sherman. A 5" rocket was launched which pulled out about 300 feet of fire hose to fall across the target area. This was then filled with Nitro-Glycerine. Once the hose was filled it was uncupoled from the carrier which was towed away and the filled hose detonated by means of a pull-igniter by one of the crewmen from a safe distance!! It was only used once in action I believe, as an accident occurred when loading liquid nitro-glycerine into the carriers resulted in the destruction of two lorry loads of the stuff exploding when it was being off loaded in jerry cans for transfer to the carriers. The two lorries vanished, as they were carrying about 6 tons of the fuel and 4 nearby AVREs were destroyed. You wouldn't want to be standing around one of these, but it makes for an interesting model. Cheers Al

I remember Wages of Fear (1953 dontchaknow). Has anyone seen the remake with Roy Scheider in it (Sorcerer 1977)? I saw it AGES ago on TV and thought it much more atmospheric. I occasionally sieve through sites like Amazon to see if it's available as a region 2 DVD but no luck yet. Tom

There is such a range of interesting carriers as yet not covered it would be nice to think that this one is the first of some of the more unusual ones. An ambulance carrier would be very useful and the carpet layer and bridgeing varients are interesting too. Al
