Taesung Harmms from Alpine Miniatures sent us news on his upcoming releases... a very welcomed Allied tank crew in 1/35 scale and a large scale German.
35190 - US Tank Crew #1

35191 - US Tank Crew #2

Both figures are sculpted by Taesung Harmms in 1/35 scale. Boxart artist is Man-Jin Kim. As usual with Alpine, the figures come with two head options. Also, these figures are available as a pair:

35192 - US Tank Crew Set

Alpine also announced their new 1/16 scale figure:

16029 - German Grenadier

This figure was sculpted by Takahiro Satoh with the boxart artist Dr. Jin Kim.

US Tankers used Grease Guns M3

I presume you're talking about US ARMY TANKERS... I've got a great book here at home, entitled "GUADALCANAL DIARY" by Richard Tragaskis, which just happens to show a US MARINE TANKER, standing in front of his M3 Stuart, holding an M1928 Thompson, including the 50-round Drum Magazine... I don't mean to argue over this. US ARMY Tankers didn't have M3 "Grease Guns" until they were put into production, well into WWII...

THANKS for the GREAT REVIEW and "HEADS UP"!!! These are late WWII 1944/'45 figures- I'D PURELY LOVE to see what MR. HARMS' take would be on US GIs, Post Pearl Harbor, to roughly the End of September/Early October 1944 would typically look like? I'm talking about GIs with the "Parsons" jackets and M1938 Leggings. Maybe we could see have an entire US Rifle Squad in various poses, such as "At Rest"/"On Break", sitting cross-legged (yoga-style) cleaning their weapons, or reclining, taking a "cat nap", chewing on K-rations or D-rations, sitting and leaned up against a wall or a tree, writing or reading letters, digging fox-holes or latrines, etc- You get the idea... How about a Rifle Squad "On Patrol", standing in a "Chow Line", or doing what ANY Infantry in the WHOLE WORLD does most: Walking, as "On the March"... So far, we've got enough GIs and Marines in "Action" poses, which actually took up just a small fraction of their time when compared to all the waiting, waiting and more waiting... A bunch of GIs and/or Marines sitting on the benches of a Deuce-nd-a-half, in semi-relaxed poses, NOT sitting "AT ATTENTION", like most passenger/soldiers are depicted by the model manufacturers, could open A LOT of possibilities... I'd also REEEEALLY LOVE to see US Marines, Post Pearl Harbor, (Guadalcanal, etc) without the Camo Cloth Helmet Covers, in HBTs ("Dungarees"), M1938 Leggings, '03 Springfields AND M1 Garands, early M1928 Thompsons with the vertical Fore-grips, M1 Thompsons, Johnson Rifles and earlier-styles of webbed equipment. Perhaps a walking set of a Marine M1917 Water-cooled MG Team, as well. It would be REALLY GREAT to see US Marines WITH the Camo Cloth Helmet Covers, WITH and WITHOUT the M1938 Leggings, with M1 Garands and other light weapons, all along the same lines as the GI Rifle Squads that I described above... Here's also something that no-one has done yet- Pre-War/during and JUST AFTER the Pearl Harbor Attack US Infantry, both Army and Marines, outfitted in Light Summer Khaki Twill Shirts and Trousers, the obligatory M1938 Leggings and World War I-style "Dishpan" Helmets..? These would look GREAT next to M3 Lees, M3 Stuarts and "Early" M3 Armored Scout Cars, the full-resin COMMANDER Series M2A1 Light and M2A1 Medium tanks and of course, the MINIART "Early" Bantam Jeeps... I mean, what's the big deal anyway? Why don't the manufacturers give the Pointing SS Officers, MG 42 teams in White Winter suits, and SS Tank Crews a rest..? ENOUGH, ALREADY!!!
What HE said! J
THANKS J!!! At least I'm NOT alone...

And a big "THANK YOU!" to you for giving us your latest WWII US Army Tankers! (And the German Grenadier) GREAT WORK, AS USUAL!!! I hope to see the various GIs and US Marines from you in the near future- ALPINE has got the THE BEST in human features, clothing and equipment! I have more than just a few ALPINE Figures in my vast collection, and YOUR 1/35 figures are like 200mm figures, shrunk down to 1/35, NO EXAGGERATION!!! I'm VERY HAPPY to have just bought a set of your Vietnam-Era Tankers- They'll look GREAT in my newly-acquired 1/35 DRAGON M48A3!!! THIS is EXACTLY WHY I mentioned all the other GIs and US Marines in my first contribution to this thread!!! I'll bet that you could give us the same quality in a line of 1/48 scale, as there is ever-growing interest in this scale, as well. I'm sure that you'd make a HIT with 1/48 Ground Crew and Pilots for the 1/48 Aircraft Crowd, among whom I am also an avid member! Thanks, AGAIN, Mr. HARMMS!!! (Sorry I mis-spelled your name, earlier...)

BTW, US Tankers did carry M1 carbine along with others like Thompson gun, M3 grease gun, etc. IMHO, M2 carbine was more common than M3 grease gun amongst the tankers through out the war.

AGREED, about the M2 Carbines, but that was later on in the war. The M1928 Thompson that I referred to earlier in this thread, was early US Army and US Marine Corps-issue, going back to MONTHS BEFORE Pearl Harbor... This practice was dis-continued, primarily because of the M1928 and M1 Thompsons' bulkiness. The M3 made much more sense for use in US Armored Service, but it's accuracy was somewhat less than desired by ANYBODY. I suppose that the M3 was OK to use, provided your enemy was practically breathing on you- THAT's an exaggeration, of course...
