Dragon models are continuing to expand their M4 range in 1/72nd scale - this has just been announced from the company.
DRA 7311 - Sherman M4A4

Another welcome release of another variant. Curiously enough, small-scale builders have been rather shabbily treated over the years with relatively few good kits of the M4. Now, with this (continuing) range, the Sherman is finally getting the attention it deserves in 1/72nd scale.

Among the (listed) features from DML are:

- Two types of rotor shields New Tooling
- Gun shield New Tooling
- Slide-molded one-piece gun barrel
- Turret produced from slide mold
- Slide-molded upper hull with crisp details
- One piece lower hull
- On-vehicle tools recreated in exquisite details
- Photo-etched parts upgrading details
- Finely detailed light guards
- DS track (Dragon Styrene)
- Cartograf decal offers various markings (Chinese Provisional Tank Group in Burma, Polish 1st Armored Division, and the Free French Army in Europe)

Regarding images of this kit, they can all be found at the side of this report...

Is the tank in the artwork Balaclava? - the original Balaclava was a Sherman III. Not a huge problem as there are plenty of other alternative markings on the sheet, and maybe Dragon will do a Sherman III soon. And only yesterday I was thinking how good it would be to have a decent Braille scale Sherman V. And here it is David

I posted about it last night, it was the obvious follow up to the Firefly VC. They already had the early 75mm turret from the M4A1 and then had the M4A4 hull from the Firefly. I'm hoping they delve into the HVSS suspension since the quality of detail on the Trumpeter Shermans isn't even on par with the old Esci Shermans. Between Dragon, Eduard/ExtraTech and the old Esci Sherman, we've got quality hulls of all Shermans but the M4A2. Hopefully the M4A4 will stay on the shelves longer than the Firefly did. I found one and haven't seen another at the local shops.
