Takom brought us three new Chieftains and have now announced three AMX 13 offerings. these kits will have individual track links, photo etch and clear parts included.
I do not have a great deal of information on this new offerings other than the box art images. Going by what I have seen of their Chieftain models, I have every reason to believe these will live up to expectations.

2036 – AMX 13/75
2037 – AMX 13/90
2038 – AMX13/75 with SS-11 ATGM

I mentioned somewhere else here about having the best detail possible for the Egyptian Sherman that Farmer Dave speaks of: Takom's AMX-13 turret combined with Asuka's Sherman chassis with PE goodies, AM decals and Friul trax...makes for one helleva detailed Middle East beast!! And so goes up the stash inventory!

I'd like to see an AMX-13/155 F3... Cute little artillery piece.

Is the IDF AMX-13/75 shown on the box art suitable for a 1956 Sinai vehicle? If not, what period would it cover?

If memory serves me: the Egyptians combined the Sherman M4A4 (et al) with the AMX FL10 turret for use in El Arish, Sinai, before, and during, 1956. So, if the kit instructions say the turret is an FL10, I would model it for 1956 if you so choose. I'm sure others will chime in to help you out with this...

Maybe some period pics would help ? http://idf-armor.blogspot.fr/2008/12/captured-tanks-armor-and-other-military.html http://idfmodelling.free.fr/amx13.html Ed Okun's build of a 1967 Six Day War one (using the old Heller kit...) : http://edokunscalemodelingpage.blogspot.fr/2014/01/israeli-amx-13-in-1967-six-day-war.html H.P.

[/quote] Apparently not a lot of '56 photos hanging around of these. I don't know enough about these tanks to pick out the detail differences. But I think they're a really interesting development branch of armor, and I'd like to model one.

According to the captions, these are from 1956 "Operation Kadesh" : You can notice the different headlights and the optional sand skirts... H.P.

As you can see on the 1956 pics, the turret do not feature the dust canvas cover so depending on how Takom designed this part, you could convert the turret into an early one or not. Concerning the headlights, the early pattern is not that easy to replicate, based on my own experience. Lastly, the gun travel lock legs were the long model while I guess Takom model will feature the late standard and shorter ones. Not a big deal there but to be taken into account. Olivier

Here's a IDF AMX-13/75 walkaround that may help with details like the early headlights assembly : http://www.net-maquettes.com/pictures/amx-13-walkaround/?afg625_page_id=1#afg-625 H.P.
