In celebration of the Queen Elizabeth II 90th birthday, SKP Model has released a Austin 10HP light utility truck as driven by the young Princess Elizabeth during World War two when she served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service.
This release by SKP Model is a particularly attractive release to myself as my daughter is part of a re-enactment group as an ATS member. The Austin 10HP light utility truck or Tilly as it is usually known is always a popular subject and this one has been released with a resin figure by SKP Model. SKP Model do a very fine job of their resin figures and while this one is just labelled as a figure it does have a striking resemblance to the young Princess Elizabeth as she was then. I will add that at €18.99 it is also a very attractive price as you can pay nearly that for a resin figure alone.

I have done this dio with the Tamiya Tilly and used the Legend detail set for the bag on the radiator.

Very cool! This was always one of my favorite pictures of the Queen. The vehicle kit looks super well done as does the fig itself. Both could easily be used in other scenarios. J

The SKP Tilly is not that nice. It is certainly not a patch on the Tamiya Tilly - which includes the same decals representing the Tilly that Princess Elizabeth posed with. Granted, the Tamiya kit could do with some etch to super-detail it, but I would buy the figure separately and use the Japanese kit. Michael Shackleton (with Tilly Register hat on)

Wartime Austin Tilly with wooden tailgate?
MAR 05, 2016 - 01:47 PM
No. Austin Tillys never had wooden tailgates. Some private restorations incorrectly have them.

Hi Mike, Yep, I know it but tell this to SKP! Cheers!

What is the point? No one buys this kit which is why they are re-promoting it with a figure. The tamiya kit is SO much better and easier to build.
