Another half track coming from Dragon, an Sd.Kfz.250/7 leichter Schützenpanzerwagen (schwerer Granatwerfer), which was a mortar carrier. In the rear compartment was an 8cm GrW34 mortar.
The 5.61-tonne vehicle also contained 42 spare rounds for the mortar, while a machine gun could be mounted at the rear for self-defence. A crew of five operated the vehicle and its mounted mortar within the platoons of light armoured reconnaissance companies.

Now Dragon has available an exciting 1/35 scale kit of the Sd.Kfz.250/7 alte 8cm Mortar Carrier. It is far more than the sum of its components that were previously available from Dragon – an Sd.Kfz.250 halftrack and an 8cm mortar – for it has a many great brand new parts. The one-piece upper hull (from the hood to the rear plate) is completely new, for example, in order to replicate the correct shape and details of this mortar variant. The vehicle interior has received a makeover too, including new mortar base, ammo boxes, seats, engine and full interiors to match the mortar version. There is ample ammunition storage as well.

Hopefully SOGA Miniatures will do a crew as they are covering crew figures for just about everything.

Completely new hull components? I hope they fit better than their previous 250 series. But at $70 USD (almost $100 CAN) a pop, are they serious? I only comment on the price because I bought their Late Tiger I with Zimmerit for only $50 CAN at an LHS a few years ago.

I'm with you, Biggles2; that much for a small half-track? No, thanks. Tiger? Straight away. Too bad, I do like this vehicle.

Are there really people paying full retail? I don't think I've paid more than half price for a Dragon kit in the past year or so at least.

Interested, but with the Neu body-style and more interested in a 251 version. Either way, I've got a 'few' kits to work on before I pick one of these up.

Normal dragon 250 is only around $30. You van pick up a tamiya or dragon 80mm mortar for maybe $15 including mortar crew. You might have to scratch build a couple items in the vehicle, but I see no significant difficulty in kit bashing this for under $50

I really wish Dragon would do crew sets that match their box covers.
