Very much in the area of Wermacht '46, the Chinese manufacturer, Trumpeter, have just sent us images of what will be a very impressive release for 'fall 2007...
Amongst the many projects in the late war period, was a vehicle based on Tiger II components which would mount the 17cm K72 L/50 gun, the Grille 17.

Now, Trumpeter have announced that this new kit will be available in the Fall.

00378 - German ' Geschützwagen' Tiger with 17cm K72 Gun, will definitely be in the 'superkit' category with 556 plastic parts, PE for the engine ciover and dust-proof nets and complete fighting compartment and engine compartment. The finished model will be 12-14" long

As a 'taster' for this impressive vehicle, we offer a large selection of images of the new kit.

As always, we will be reviewing the model in the next few weeks,

Finally, my thanks to Stevens International (Trumpeter's U.S. Importer) for providing details and images

So more variants could follow? I can see my credit card taking flight at the thought of that....

The 30,5 and 42 cm GrW versions were ideas, the 21 cm Mrs was planned. It's up to Trumpeter to decide if any or these will follow.

just saw this on the Squadron website for order.. didnt realize it was going to be over $100 USD!! why?
OCT 17, 2007 - 09:28 AM
Yeah--what a KILLJOY huh?! I can't see the reason for that; I mean its a big kit, but where the heck are prices going these days? Could you imagine if you get any AM stuff for it? You're talking SERIOUS money then! I wonder if I can even justify the buy, with all the other cool stuff available at a third of the price?

Considering the amount of styrene involved for both the vehicle and the gun, the price isn't that surprising...the BR-52 was priced comparable to it as was the K5E Leopold. From the test shots that Jim Starkweather posted, it's a sizable vehicle when all is said and done.

I had realized from the get-go that this was a very big vehicle, but oh my! I didn't realize that it's nearly a story and a half tall! Me, I will figure out how to come up with the $120. It will be on my shelf! The other thing that kind of surprised me it the length...my gosh, it's the strech-limo of "Cannon-Cocker" heaven! Love it! Thanks for the serious updates.....(ya know, we really do need a "drool" icon!). Mike

It looks pretty nice indeed. However, I will really have to wait and see perhaps a detailed build review on this one before I get out the wallet to pay over $100 as Trumpeter does not have the best track record on accuracy when it comes to new releases. Still, however, nice to see something different. Now, why the high price? Well, as some of you have said, it could be beacause the kit is big. Me, well, I just think we can thank Stevens International here in the US for it. Just my 2 cents --Rob
