Did not know this one ever existed. Was the trailer detachable in the normal sense or was it a semi-permanent fixture?

The older type seems to have been semi-permanent. The trailer has landing legs but it is not a normal turntable-kingpin combination so the older trailer would not fit another tractor unless something was rebuilt or replaced. LINK Side view of the goose neck variant. I would be willing to bet a penny that the gooseneck trailer was also some variant of semi detachable, maybe reused the same attachment system: The "tower" standing on the fifth wheel in the image above looks the same as in the image on Thunder Models web-page showing the other trailer type. / Robin
