What’s that stacked over the fuel filler cap & port? Random junk? No crew I’ve worked with would obstruct the fuelling point.

I checked Callsigns facebook page and someone had asked: "Does the turret include the cage inside the vehicle?" the answer was: "no it doesnt too hard to cast" / Robin

Not so sure David is involved with Callsign. Yes he sells Callsign stuff on his Firestorm website, but if you look at Callsign's Facebook page it mentions: Casting has come along way since Verlinden kicked off his business, but this kit is very reminiscent of his 80's approach. Turret seems to have an opening where the sides go straight down and with no detail at all. No pic from the turret rear but I expect the front section where the guns are mounted is just a 'wall'. You would need a fat figure to hide all that, or a lot of drilling out and scratch building will be required. Sandbag floor but no other interior detail? Why bother. This kit is really only good to be buttoned up, but that hardly ever happened. And yes Greg, I have to ponder what happened to the cap as the bottom box is flush on the roof!!

Maybe too hard to cast, but with the surge in 3-D printing capabilities, seems like a prime opportunity.

Only if you do a one part mould with huge pour plug. A two part mould for the top of the turret with a separate part for the turret bottom would enable interior and exterior details for vision ports, etc. Done it myself. Yes 3D resin printing will be the way of the future, especially with prices coming down all the time.

Czech firm MMK did a pretty nice resin & p/e set some years ago. Clearly not for the AFV Club ACAV kit but -probably- for the Academy one, it has interior parts for both the turret and the area underneath.. Perhaps interesting for those wanting an interior.

Not a modelling question, but don't those ammo racks restrict the field of fire for the turret? Can't see how you'd depress the guns for close defence when firing to the side...

The turret sits a bit higher, probably partly to deal with what you suggested. That said, I wonder how much depression the turret mg's have at all, due to the limited space inside the turret.

A perfect example of what a good manufacturer can do with casting in a mould that is not a single piece! This pic will give you a better idea of gun clearance over the ammo boxes. The rail at the rear of the turret was a barrel stop so you did not shoot off the rear of the vehicle and will give you an idea of how much depression these guns had.
