Archer Fine Transfers tells us why its dry transfers are on clearance sale, and most importantly how it intends to move forward.
Thirty-plus years ago the dry transfer technology that put the "Fine" in Archer Fine Transfers was state of the art - today it's obsolete. Originally used by graphic designers to show clients what their packaging would look like, today all of that is done with computers and printers that print the same design directly onto the package prototype for a tiny fraction of the price. As a consequence, the demand for dry transfer chemistry has declined dramatically.

When I started this business thirty-plus years ago we could buy the required chemicals from numerous different suppliers. Today there is only one, and the only company that manufactures the key ingredient, an adhesive with an extended shelf life, has informed our supplier that it is now no longer available. Sadly, this leaves Archer with no option other than to discontinue manufacturing our dry transfers.

Therefore, starting today we are clearing out our entire inventory of DRY TRANSFERS ONLY.

THIS SALE DOES NOT INCLUDE:
Waterslide Decals
AFT Decals
Fabric Texture Appliqués
Fabric Texture Uniform Patches
Surface Details.
(If any of these items are included in your order they will be charged at the full retail price.)
Quantities are limited and all sales are final.

In closing, allow me to make one thing perfectly clear - Archer is not going out of business! We will be transitioning our efforts toward our line of Surface Details, Fabric Texture Appliqués and converting most of our Dry Transfers to waterslide decals.

I sincerely regret any disappointment our loyal customers may be feeling by this news, but nothing lasts forever. It was a good run and your loyalty, honesty and friendship continuously renews my faith in humanity. Thank you.

Just yesterday I saw that somebody was marketing a set of 1/48 Tomcat cockpit decals that were 3D printed in color. They were gorgeous to look at, with switches and such sticking up from them. I think that's the 'next generation' of this sort of thing.

Quinta Studio is the company. Things of beauty. Archer has been doing something similar with the surface detail products. He is slowly moving back in to more aviation projects.

I just ordered a bunch of uniform patches and shoulder boards that can't be matched with waterslide decals or painting. Is the DT discount already included or does it come when you process the order? Needed a bunch of this stuff anyway, so this is a good prod to getting it.

You get refunded after the sale. He has done that in the past and my experience has been that it worked out just fine. PSA/FYI - Woody send this out Friday. PLEASE BE PATIENT Due to the overwhelming response to our Dry Transfer Clearance Sale, there is a very good chance that your order, and rebate, will experience a longer than usual delay. Please rest assured that we are doing everything we can to move through this mountain of orders as quickly as possible, including working seven days a week to reduce your wait time. I personally guarantee that your order will be processed, and your rebate will issued a soon as is humanly possible. Thank you for your patience. I have no worries. Woody's stuff is great and his customer service has always been first rate. UPDATE: Just got my 20% refund from Archer. Great products, you should snap up the uniform patches and shoulder boards while they still have them in stock.
