Tasca have announced the release of a British version of their #35-012 M4A1 Sherman (Late Production) kit, available only through their online shop.
The set 1/35 British Army Sherman 2 (Normandy) item:OL-1 contains the original M4A1 Sherman (Late Production) kit, plus the following bits to make it a British tank.

The commander figure from Tasca's Firefly.
The british radio mounts also from the Firefly.
A length of wire cable.
A British Turret stowage box.
A set of Decals for the 4th Armoured Bde -(Thanks to Al Bowie for the ID)
This is not as I first reported an add on set but a full kit. Sorry-note to self- must learn Japanese.

like this update set for the upcomming late M4A1 (Sherman II) It would not hurt Tasca to add it as a standard feature in the M4A1 kit if i say so. But i guess this will never happen. On the other hand, now i can update my DML Sherman III (Sicily) to a tank used in Normandy or somewere else in N.W. Europe. Love the potential of this set. Gonna buy a few for sure. Thanks Tasca ! Frank.

Nice idea but why couldn't it have been in the kit to start with. The Decals are for 4th Armoured Bde who along with 33 Armd Bde (In small numbers) were the only two Brit Formations to use the Sherman II in NWE. The T Number is glaringly absent on this one. Does the Late kit come with Sideskirts as most of 4AB examples had them plus upturned ones as storage holders on the rear hull tops.? I believe this is a full kit with the late M4A1 and not just the parts shown. Cheers Al

Hi Guys, Yip in the box would have been good, don't see any fire extinguishers and as Al says side skirts were common on many of the early British Shermans used in NWE at least in the early part of the camapaign. There is however something else very British about the set ie, buy the kit and then pay more to fix it, pretty much like everything else here Al

If you want the Brit variant then this is the same price as the Mid variant. It looks as though they got muddled with the 4AB insignia as most pics of NWE show a black Jerboa on a White Sqare - not a black bordered one. They hedged their bets on the troop and squadron insignia by offering it in White and Yellow. As this kit comes with Markings for an A SQN 4 tp vehicle with 3 CLY - the Second Senior Armoured Regiment of the BDE the triangles should be in Yellow There is a good Picture of this vehicle in the IWM collection and in Fortins British Tanks in Normandy that shows thge Rear upturned Shields and the front sections fitted. It goes to Show that B&W interpretation cannot be trusted. The vehicle in front of it also shows the different BDE Insignia. It's nice they are releasing this as a Brit variant but really what was stopping them putting it all in the original release? Al

Thanks Pat, I'll await more info Al

I have to say that's my feeling too. I already have the original kit to build as a British tank, the extras don't amount to much so why not put them in the original kit? The figure is not great, The stowage box I already have several from Ultracast and Formations. The radio mounts I think Formations do and there is a nice new set from Armorscale. So I'll probably pass on this one. BTW Thanks for the info on the Decals Al

Hi Guys, The only atttraction I can see from these is the cost. If they are plastic they should in theory be much cheaper than resin. If this set of British fittings comes in much cheaper then yip I would use them once my resin stock expires but that also depends on the quality. However, as Pat said it looks like it may be a new /added to kit of the complete Sherman II, in which case I'll use what I have to convert the original kits I bought, it then just becomes annoying that they were not included in the first place. Hi Pat, Thanks for the update/amendment to the original news. If you can only order on line from their site, that will be difficult for some folks. I got the mid porduction model through Lucky Models couln't find anyone stocking it UK side at that time. Al
