Is the MARSOC HMMWV the same as the GMV-M mentioned on the USSOCOM website? There's supposed to be a Ranger and SEAL subvariant too.

The MARSOC HMMWV is totally different than our GMV's were. Different armor, doors, stowage on the hood. They also have upgraded suspensions to handle the weight, which appear to be a bolt on spring dampener of some sort. I photographed those too. I'm still waiting for someone (Mike Mummey, or some other jarhead) to build one up. EDIT: I just checked that site you mentioned, and yeah, I guess theirs has the designation GMV-M, and is shown in that one photo, but it is still different than what I shall now call the GMV-S (Special Forces) Thanks!

I must second Robert, his CD reference is full of never seen before photos in a walk around style. for the price of a book if you have to choose i must says go with Robert ! And I will second Stephane. I've known Robert a good many years now. Not only is he a nice guy, he's not a bad shot either. Oh, great CD's too. I think I have them all.

Not a problem. I spent about a month earlier this year updating Globalsecurity.org's HMMWV pages and stumbled upon this nomenclature. There aren't a lot of pictures on the web that are labeled for one or the other, so its hard to get a good feel for the subvariants. The only description I found in official documentation was of the GMV-N, which is in our entry.

Robert, how many photos on the CD and what percentage are full shots of humvees rather than close ups of detail? The teaser photos look great but I prefer full scantily clad shots in dynamic pose!

Quick math adds up to 541 photos, which does not include the mission photos file I throw in. Several of those are full shots, and I'd say roughly (and I say very roughly) 8% of the HMMWV photos are overall shots, with the rest being detail shots. I figure you can pull the overall shots off Google-it's the detail shots that are much harder to come by. Included in the 541 are a few dozen HIMARS which I sent to someone as a bonus once and decided to leave in.

I will state that Skippers C.D. is a great collection of images, hell he should publish or author a book. Have a great day. Mrosko
