Osprey Publishing as is their custom, announce their new releases a month or two before they hit the shelves. Two scheduled releases for september 2004 should have the allied modellers drooling with expectation....
The first of these two books is by Steven Zaloga who needs little in the way of introduction... The book is number 13 in Osprey's Modelling series and this time the subject is one very close to Allied modeller's hearts - U.S. Army Tank Destroyers...

Modelling US Army Tank Destroyers of World War II
(Osprey Modelling 13) continues an established format by Osprey to concentrate on a particular modelling them and explore it within the pages of these highly useful guides. The chapter headings for this one are particularly interesting:

# Introduction
# Kits and materials
# Modelling a winter tank destroyer
# Modelling a small-scale tank destroyer
# Modelling the AFV Club M18 76mm GMC
# Converting the AFV Club M18 into the M39 AUV
# Further reading
# Museums and collections
# Index
# Colour reference chart

Once again, 1/72nd scale is covered, something which would have been unheard of a few years ago...

The second - which covers a disgracefully under-represented area, is:

British Anti-tank Artillery 1939–45
(New Vanguard 98)

Author: Chris Henry
Illustrator: Brian Delf

The book deals with the development of the British (towed) AT weapons and is profusely illustrated throughout (see photos on the side)
An incredibly useful work although the purists might have wanted something which dealt with one or two of the weapons in each volume with perhaps the 17 Pounder getting it's own book...
Very, very welcome although very overdue...

The Chapter headings are as follows:

# Introduction
# Design and Development
# Operation History
# Variants
# Colour plate commentary

Please note, neither of these two books is yet available and as their release date is set for September, it will be October before they are on the shelves....
