More images have been sent to us by Master Box Ltd of another W.i.P.. This time MORE British/Commonwealth Infantry in 1/35th scale. This time something that's been requested for a long while...
The working title for this particular set is:

3585 - "West Europe. British Infantry, 1944-1945"

However, what they're developing with THIS particular set, is something that was brought to life by Airfix many, many years ago. Yes, we're talking MULTIPOSE...

So mixing and matching 1 (or more) sets, you should with minimum effort, be able to get as varied a group of figures as you would wish for. If the company were to add in more heads and different headgear (some Mk IV helmets, or forage caps for example) the possibilities become even greater.

More to come on this story...

Our thanks to Master Box Ltd for this very interesting Update!

Hi Chaps, The chap at the back should be holding the Lee in front of the the trigger guard where the point of balance isand it should be more horizontal. It should really be a Sten, not a Thomson and those things (Thomsons) are heavy, so would be resting on top of the ammunition pouch. Pat, thats what pokey drill is for But this is a WIP. British-not selling- obviously nobody has told MasterBox or Bronco. Craig

Just to re-iterate what has already been said above. Looks like another great set in the making from M-A to go alongside their others and those from Mini-Box and the couple of sets done by Tamiya. Its about time that us Brits got a look-in. It would be a simple thing to add a few head, (turbans, FS caps, berets etc), weapons (No1 SMLE and sword bayonets, kukri's etc) and equipment alternatives, (bergans, radio sets, 2inch mortar, PIATs etc) to the set and that would increase the "usability" of this set even more. Another set or three to add to the collection Regards etc Ian D Hampshire, UK

Just a bit more on the Thompson. Early use in the Desert, drum magazine and front pistol grip. Later use in Italy, 20/30 rd straight magazine, although you see both types.. Used by the Commandos throughout NWE, straight mag type. Used by British/Commonwealth troops in Burma and the Far East, again the drum version and then the magazine type. I'm pleased to see the portrayal of the Thompson, easily replaced with a Sten if you want standard British Infantry for NWE. Yip, SMLE and No 4 Rifles would be a good addition, but chuffed to see these. Al

Alan Just found my old copy of Ospreys British Army Commando's in WW11 and there a photo in there of a Commando in WE late 1944/5 (think its the rhine crossing) with a thompson with a forward pistol grip but with a straight 20/30 round mag, which is an interesting combo. This is a great set and would say to masterbox do the full airfix and give us loads of extras with the set and it will sell loads. Still think the old airfix British army in western europe multipose set is the best all round set of figures I have ever bought. Sentimental may be as it was the first I bought but it was filled with extras, even a 2" mortar for heaven sake. If only the likes of DML and Miniart would do the same.

Last night I got my list together for figures to buy and now I have to add another. Absolutly fantastic looking set. For me it's a must have. So many figure sets coming out I wonder if I'll live long enough to build them all. Hey, what happened to at least one guy pointing? M.B. has done it again, dam good idea there and I'm betting my stash they will sell like crazy.

You have got to love all the British/Commonwealth figures that have appeared, or are in the pipeline, over the last few years. This new set is no exception, they look great, and I especially like the guy peering around the door. Another dynamic pose for those of us who aren't 'masters' at modifying poses ourselves!
