Introduction

Sometimes breaking up that monotone color can easily be done with apply a filter to the painted model. Ammo by Mig has made applying that filter a little easier with their Filter Set for Green Vehicles, containing three common filter colors for greens.

Contents

Inside the package you will find three bottles of enamel based filters in three shades:

Ochre for Green Grey (A.MIG-1508)
Brown for Dark Green (A.MIG-1506)
Tan for Yellow Green (A.MIG-1507)

Review

Ammo by Mig has released a set containing three common filter colors for greens, these colors are ochre, brown, and tan. The colors are filters that can be applied directly from bottle onto your build. The colors, while designated for specific shades of green can be used on any shade of green or other colors for that desired effect, or applied in layers for varying effects.

The filters are an enamel base, and can be applied directly over acrylic paint. If applying over an enamel paint, I would advise a coat of acrylic clear first. The filters apply well, the only issue I found was that the pigments in the filters tend to settle quickly, and they require constant stirring. This could be somewhat alleviated by putting a small amount in a shallow dish or cup.

To experiment with the effects, I painted a primed card with Vallejo Olive Drab and Russian Green. Applying the three shades provides a different effect for each color. The ochre provides a more yellowish green hue, while the brown filter provides a brownish shade, almost giving the paint a darker look. I found the tan provided an almost hazed look, providing a somewhat lighter hue.

I did apply the ochre and brown to my latest build, using the brown around the bottom and the ochre on the uppers sides and top, and I was very pleased with the look.

While the colors are included in this set, they are also available individually.

Conclusion

These new enamel based filters from Ammo by Mig are a quick and convenient way to apply a filter to a vehicle. The colors provided in the set for Green Vehicles look to be very suited for green, and can provide a change in hue to the paint color. The only real draw back I found was the quick settling of the pigments. Overall this is a great set to get you started in applying filters and/or a method of applying a quick filter to a build, I recommend these filters.
SUMMARY
Highs: Quick way of applying a filter, good shades for green.
Lows: Pigments settle fast, need constant stirring.
Verdict: A great product for applying a fast and convincing filter, recommended.

It is about due, I use a furnace filter materiel, and while it does look bad(mostly due to Tamiya Primer) it still flows very well. Kevin
