Introduction

This set of US Army Drivers is one of the latest figure offerings from MiniArt in 1/35th scale. This five figure set is a great addition to their figure line up as while titled US Army Drivers the poses lend themselves too many settings and a wide time line.

Contents

Inside the usual end opening carton offering from MiniArt you will find 3 sprues, but this can really be thought of as 5 sprues. The front of the box has a nice artwork showing the five figures supplied with this offering. The back of the box shows the same figure artwork with the part numbers and painting directions.

Review

My first impression of these figures is good. The moulding has been well done with very minimal seam lines present on all of the parts. These seam lines should be easily cleaned up with a light scrap with a blade, or as has become the new fad a light brush with thin liquid glue. The crease detail on the uniforms is very well replicated and has some nice bulge detail around the thigh pockets where applicable. The boots are nicely detailed, but there are bulges on the soles of the boots to various degrees; however a light sanding will fix this issue quickly and easily.

The soft caps or helmets for these figures have all been moulded as separate parts and I like that as it provides options. The hand detail is quite good overall, even where the hands have been moulded with a tool in hand. Finger definition is good, but will of course benefit from a scrap with a sharp object to further define the gaps between the fingers. The faces have become what is the usual high standard of good injection moulded figures, and have well defined facial features. With most of these figures wearing soft caps the ears are quite clearly seen and it is the ears that may be the one area that will be a struggle.

For me the biggest selling point of these figures is that they could represent mechanics, drivers or even troops on jankers such as peeling spuds in one case. The other big plus with this offering is that with minimal scratch work some of these figures could be used to represent troops up to the present day wearing coveralls. All told this figure set must be the most useful I have seen in some time when it comes to what they can be used for.

Conclusion

I really do recommend that if you have the chance pick up a set of these figures you do so, as at least three of the figure offerings can be used for many time period and roles. Quality overall is good In my opinion and I see nothing that would upset in this offering from MiniArt.
