Introduction

SKP Model has added another resin 1/35th scale figure to their range, this time around it is a motorcycle dispatch rider. No details are provided in regard to period or country is mentioned, but I believe this to be a World War Two period figure of a British or Commonwealth dispatch rider.

Contents

The figure arrives in a cardboard tray and separate lid, inside of this is a Ziploc plastic bag containing the various figure parts. The packaging is very robust and should cope with the rigours of most postal services. The figure itself is made up of seven dark blue resin parts.

Review

Starting with a close examination of the resin parts that make up this figure, I can say I am very pleased. Other than some flash between the legs of the figure, I can see no other moulding issues present, I could not find a single air bubble via my visual inspection.

The uniform provided is accurate for a dispatch rider or for that matter an escort out rider representing British or Commonwealth troops of the World War Two period. Definition of the uniform is very good as regards its elements and the crease detail. There are creases above the knees at the front that look a little overdone, but otherwise I like what I see.

The Sten gun hung at the rear of the figure would I believe be better if it was a separate part, but the addition of a separate magazine does look good. The gasmask holdall and document case are again separate items and they fit the figure very well. There is an ammunition pouch moulded as part of the figure, but I do not believe that it is a Sten gun magazine pouch.

The facial features and headwear of this figure look very good. The helmet looks right as does the goggles moulded on it. The face is a little blank as regards an expression, but is otherwise good. The hands in the gauntlets have been very well done having good finger detail.

Conclusion

This figure will look quite good depending on your painting abilities, and stood next to a suitable motorcycle will add to that appearance. Clean-up of the resin should be fairly easy from what I can see. As always some sawing will be required to remove parts from their pour plugs and so usual safety requirements should be followed.
SUMMARY
Highs: Very well cast figure with nice attention to detail.
Lows: Some more information on what the figure represents would be useful.
Verdict: Another useful Allied figure to add to the list.
