76.2mm F-34 Barrel for T-34/76 Pattern 1941 - First Look

by: Jim Rae [ JIMBRAE ]

introduction

As is customary with Armorscale's products, the barrel/mantlet comes in a small-snap top bag with the instructions folded into the bag. Simple but attractive packaging although the real interest lies in the contents: /p
  • The mantlet is cast in light-grey resin attached to a larger casting block. These blocks cause no problems in removing by the use of a razor-saw. Casting is totally first-class, with the subtle weld-lines impeccably reproduced. Comparing it with my own references to the Model 1941 mantlet, some careful research has been done on this item.

  • The barrel is turned aluminium with the collar at the mantlet end, well-reproduced as is the collar on the 'business-end'. The barrel contains NONE of the slight raised lines which in other barrels require careful sanding. It is completely smooth.

  • A simple, clear (color) sheet, includes all the necessary instructions for fitting and (modifiying) the kit parts to accept the new mantlet. Simple but effective.

  • Conclusions

A simple, yet useful enhancement to a T34 kit. The quality and price are amongst the highest I have ever seen and Armorscale is developing a real 'niche' for itself in the AM producers. A superbly produced 'upgrade' which has the advantage of being simple and effective...

My thanks to Armorscale for the review sample.
