LVT Drivers

by: Vinnie Branigan [ TEACHER ]

introduction
The release in recent years by Italeri, of different versions of WWII amphibious vehicles, has created the opening for aftermarket figure producers to issue various crews for these vehicles. This LVT cre from warriors fills the niche for relaxed figures, away from the action.

the figures
Two figures are supplied in this set, one standing with his hands on his hips, the other sitting almost cross-legged,his right arm resting on his knee. Both figures are supplied wearing helmets and life jackets. As usual with these sets from Warriors, both figures are supplied as torso's with separate arms and heads. Quite how they managed to mould the sitting figure in thsi case, is beyond me. His legs are crossed, as mentioned above, but there is very little flash present. In fact, there is very little flash present on either figure, just the pouring blocks to remove, which in this set are kept well away from the moulded on pins used to locate the arms.
The heads have their pouring blocks situated on top of the helmet, which at first glance would seem to be worse than the bottom of the neck, but after removal, all each head needs is a quick swip with a little sandpaper and it's clean, whereas if the pouring block had been connected to the neck, then the heads would not fit so well. As it is, each head slips beautifully into place, leaving no gap to fill, and a satisfying neck-line that looks as if the tunics are separate......as they should look.
Both figures have ben extremely well-sculpted by Bill Chilstrom, the expressions on both faces are a little bland however, and detail will have to be added to the left sole of the sitting figure, which is very visible. The detail on the life jackets has been well done, including the inflation tubes hanging down the side of each.

in conclusion
A nice set. As mentioned, a couple of small details need to be added, but reasonable value for money. Recommended.

My thanks to The VLS Corporation for the review sample.
