Russian Heavy Tank IS-3M

by: Chuck Bush [ CFBUSH2000 ]

This was my first Trumpeter model. I found the quality to be about that of a good Italeri kit
One reason I bought this kit was the Egyptian markings.

I found this kit to be very easy to assemble.
The only major problem I found was a gap between the turret top and bottom. The mantlet also seems off-center to me.
I fixed the gap and left the mantlet alone. The tracks (one piece) do not hold paint well and are not glueable. They are also a bit too long. I cut off one link to shorten them. I used a product called Instant iron and Instant rust to paint them.
I painted the tank Model Master Acrylic Sand. After it had dried over night I applied an oil wash of Burnt Sienna.
The decals went on with no problem.I think this kit is a good value for the price.
