The Set...

Many modelers like to have the name of the ship on the stern just like many of the prototypes did. The Imperial Japanese Navy also had these names in Kanji. This set gives a fine means of making those names easy to ad to your ships.

In the photos you can see that the set is quite detailed even though the names are very small. Each name has been etched without a connection point to the main fret. I recommend you paint the name on the backing and then peel it off and glue to the model. You get two of each ship name which is good if you inadvertently loose a part of the nameplate.

Really the only down side to the set is that you'll have to hunt for your correct name if you cannot read Kanji, but the different types of ships are clustered together in sections which makes it easier.

You can see the nameplate on the stern of my IJN Mogami seaplane carrier.

About Anthony Kochevar (ajkochev)
FROM: UTAH, UNITED STATES

I've modeled ships as a teen and started the hobby again in 2005. For some reason I got into the history of the Japanese Navy at this time and started building ships of this navy. I also do N Scale model railroading, reef aquariums and a few video games.

Thanks for the heads up Jim. I'll see if I can find a set anywhere on line. Didn't realise it had already been released. Cheers, Julian

I bought this set - it is accurate and wonderfully petite, but the parts are stainless steel... why didn't Lion Roar use brass like the originals?
