VsKfz 617 Minenräumer
The Alkett VsKfz617 was a mine clearing device, the prototype being completed in 1942. Following trials it was deemed to be impractical and there was no further production. Soviet troops came across the prototype when they overran Kummersdorf in 1945, and the machine eventually found its way to the Kubinka museum, where it remains. Meng's kit consists of 201 parts in grey plastic with a further 30 track links in plastic and 30 plastic track shoes. The shoes have metal blocks moulded inside giving additional weight but normal gluing is still possible due to the plastic outer surfaces. Also included is a length of fine chain, some copper wire and a 14 page colour instruction booklet.
