TankFest 2012

Bovington Tank Museum hosts Tank Festival every year now but this was started in 2000 and used to be held every other year; however it proved to be so popular that it was made an annual event and this year celebrates its 10th anniversary. Held over the weekend of the 30th June/1st July this year is not a disappointment with a very large selection of military vehicles, both static and on the move ranging from World War One to the present day making the oldest vehicles on the move nearly 100 years old. In addition to the vehicles there was also a number of re-enactment groups also ranging from World War One to the 1980s, with some of the combatants from World War Two being the best represented.

The day started overcast but eventually the sun made an appearance making the day all the better despite the wind. The event is well catered for with the smell of some very tempting food wafting around to attract your attention and a large selection of stalls to help open your wallet and of course a few stalls selling models (Tanks and models what else could I do). Unfortunately due to a previous obligation I was only able to spend 5 hours at the event but I have included a number of pictures here to give you an idea of what you can expect if you have the opportunity to attend one of these events in the future.

I have included a walk around for you on page four of this feature which I am sure Armorama will move to its own location in the future.
