I have started a diorama in a groupsbuild on another forum.
The subject of this GB is D-day.

I have chosen to build myself an Opel Blitz, with spare parts from previous build Opel's and the remains of these old models, all the missing parts will be scratchbuild .
I'm allready in a further stage building this model....

I'm still looking for further info or pics off this vehicle, so if there's anyone who can help...

But enough talk , here some pics :

This is what I had to start with:

This was the first work done on the chassis:

Going further with the cabin:

These two put together for a dryfit:

Some detail added in the interior:

The steering wheel was, as poited out to me on the other forum, out of scale, so a new one was scratched:

Hope you enjoyed so far

Grtz,
Beyond

After these works, it was time to go further wit the load-/kofferaufbau section.

Some real wood (for lightning cigars) was glued on the floor:

And some boxes where made for the sides of the chassis:

Wich I did'nt like, so I removed them and made some new ones:

Next came the kofferaufbau itself, starting with some plasticcard and a paper(? )cutting machine:

And this where I stand at this moment:

So,like this is the way it looks today....
I'm a slow builder, so please give me some time to proceed, and to come again with a further update....

But in the meantime, don't hesitate to give me some feedback, comments, tips, etc...

Grtz,
Beyond

Do you plan to put some stuff inside ? If so (and if it's not too late ) maybe you could draw some inspiration from Verlinden's 1/35th scale set, even if the shelter is different :

Hi Beyond,

Yes, pictures of this vehicle are hard to find. I have made some scans of the instructions for the Italeri 1/35 radio truck. (I hope this works - it's the first time I have attempted to post pictures .)

The dimensions I have added are taken from the part on the sprue.

Hope this helps

Hello lespauljames,

Yes the tires do look a bit shiny, don't they
But don't worry, at the end the whole vehicle will recieve some flatt varnish, including the tires...
I might even try to make 'm less black... more blue-greyish.
Thanx for your reply, apreciate it

Impressive work you've done there. Definitely nice to see it come together, from a pile of odds and ends to an identifiable vehicle, even more so in 1/72nd scale! Great scratchbuilding, looking forward to seeing this progress, as you've done a lot to date!

Keep it up, thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Hi, Orange_3d,

Thanx for your reaction
Sorry for the late reply, I have been on a holliday .....

The radio's where only for a part scratchbuild, as can be seen on this picture.

The green radio parts have been cut from a soldier, the white part has been scratched, using plasticcard, iron wire and copper wire.
The copper wire has been used to form the round parts and the iron wire was cutt in small pieces, wich where placed in small holes I have drilled, so there would be some buttons....
Hope to have been of any help?

Greetings,
Beyond

I have started with the antenna....

These where the ingredients:

Here is what I made and how it looks today..., (not finished yet ):

source: WWP Opel blitz in detail

Does anyone know what the cabels were used for?
Are they actually part of the antenna (electricity?) ?
Or was it to stabilize the antenna, against wind etc...?

Thanx for watching

Hi Beyond,

Your antenna looks excellent.

As always, references are pretty hard to find, but I am quite sure that the cables connect the antenna to the radio. I think that the antenna is robust enough not to need stabilising wires.

I look forward to seeing the completed build.
