I've noticed that Trumpeter has at least four PT-76 kits in its 1/35 range. Three are billed as Russian and 1 as Polish.

Would the Resident Soviet Armour Expert Panel recommend one over the other, or are they pretty much of a muchness?

Cheers!

Here you have the review for two of the Russian PT-76, by Terry Ashley:

It seems like the gun barrel is the main difference. I don't know anything about the other Russian variant, but I know that the Polish variant has a different turret hatch and features a DShK AA machine gun. Hope this helps. Best regards.

José.

Also different upper hulls.
That is the main difference between early and later variants.

Have a look on the Trumpeter page. They have sprue shots there.

Hi Thomas,

I was just going to post a question about this. So the Model 1951 Trumpeter kit has an upper hull that is a different heigth compared to the other kits? I'm building one at the moment, had a problem with the tracks (too short) and got myself the Friulmodel set for the PT-76, now I've got to assemble those.

Cheers,

Christophe

Hi guys,

I'm pretty sure that Trumpeter messed up the engine deck on the 1951 version.
It should look like this:

(Thanks for posting Vyacheslav)

And here's what the Trump kit look like:

I have yet to see a PT-76 with the engine deck of the '51 kit.

Aside from the air intake and exhaust, am I missing something?

No, I was a bit unclear. It was the exhaust/intake (and the surronding panels) configuration that I was referring to. I'm wondering what they used for reference on this part? Never seen it in any photographs.
