I have Zvesda's BMP 2D in my stash and I would like to know if when used in Afganistan was it uesd in Desert colours? and do you have any photos?

Hello, on some photos I saw the BMP-2´s and other vehicles with a sand-yellow basecolor with dark-green marks. But the colors were not clearly recognizeable.

Ace-model (small-scale kit-manufacturer) has a drawing on his pages.


Perhaps, this helps a bit.

The BMP is widely used in Afganistan so you may try google and flickr.com - you'll find many interesting photos!

If you can pick up a copy of Concord's "Armor of the Afghanistan War"......B&W and colour images of the BMPs....they did have camouflage applied over the base Soviet green.

Looks like the ACE's boxart showed above was directly inspired by the following picture from the mentioned Concord's book. The caption places it into an unknown viliage near Bagram air base some 60 km north of Kabul in 1987.
