Scott, Cool Abrams!

My building has been halted for the time being.

My wife took over the craft room to make my daughter winter formal dress. It took her days to cut everything out. I figure there must have been near 100 pieces of fabric and I look at the instructions. 135 steps to construct the thing!

Here is the current status of my Tamiya M1A1 that I'm building for someone. I fortunate in that he wants it to be 'clean' which makes my job easier.

Well, this M1A1 Abrams is basically done. After taking these pictures, I see I need to do a little touch-up painting but I won't take any additional pictures afterward because it will be delivered to its new owner.

The guy getting it wanted it 'clean' so that made my life simple.

I didn't decal it because I don't have any decals for a 3-color camouflage vehicle. All decals that I have are for Desert Storm/OIF desert tan vehicles.

Doesn't get any more cleaner than that! Nice use of the 3 tone Nato camo. Your airbrush skills are great.

painted lower hull and wheels using bronco workabels (painted with vallejo model air black and DOA track brown). the sprockets gave me some truobles when i've put the tracks, so i've chopped them out until they are finished:

Finally got around to getting some work done on this campaign. I have dug out the DML 3531 USMC M1A1 HA, the model is not the greatest but it will do. I do have a request for anyone with a set of MC smoke dischargers going begging as one of them is only partially moulded and short by 3 tubes. It wont be a major problem if no one can help as it should not be that hard to scratch one using the other as a pattern and some brass tube for the tubes. I will get pictures up this weekend when I hope most of the model will be built, even if it isn't pretty. I may need some help with aerial lengths, but I have a while before I need worry about that.

Hi everybody!

Thanks to the hard winter in northern Germany (too cold to go outside ) i was able to get my Abrams nearly finished.
There are only few weathering steps to do and i´m thinking about adding some tankers on the base.
Im sure, you will find a lot of mistakes in this Abrams, especially inside the hull , but in lack of better photosources i was forced to use my imagination to represent the turret rotation mechanism, some "black boxes" and all that wirings around

The progress:

Turret interior finished:

All that gears had to be placed on the tank turret...

Engine bay with little detai work:

Overview:

A little base with an option for an "exploded view":

thanks for watching and feel free to comment this built.

Greetings
Gregor

Gregor,

That is one EXCELLENT Abrams!!
Were you "trapped" indoors for the last three months like a bear???

Your Abrams reminds me Derek Brown's M1A1 HA in 1/72 Scale. Have you seen it?

Hi Jeff!

Nope, it´s been a long time to finish the M1 and i eventually had the spare time to get the work done

I know the 1/72 Abrams you are talking about too and i really admire this modeller for his patience, detail work and accuracy... In comparison to his work is my Abrams a piece of cake

Greetings
Gregor

Hello all,
Here is my "Angry Beaver" form Dragon M1A1 AIM. All stowages are from my produce.

Miroslav,

Thats one bad ass looking tank you've got there.

I've just enlisted with a Dragon M1A2 SEP, 16th Cav. Regiment, 3 colour cam.

Hope to get some paint on it this afternoon.

Great looking Abrams, Miroslav! I love all the clutter around the turret rear.

Thanks for sharing

I just signed up for the campaign since I'm working on a M1A1 Abrams. The build has been rather easy and straight forward. Pretty much OOB with a scratchbuilt bustle rack. When finished it will be a tank from C Coy 1-64 Armor. The kit is from Dragon and scale is 1/72.

Hi Erik!

Great tiny Abrams
You have there a nice and well sorted turret stowage, the rear stowage basket looks great!
Are the parts you have used selfmade?

Unfortunatly no. All the resin stowage is CMK.

I really hate small resin parts that go shooting off of the sprue, into the carpet monster and lost forever. Hope to have some updated pics of my Abrams shortly.
