I'll roll with this crew, perfect excuse to pick up one of those 1/48 Hobby Boss kits I've had my eyes on.

Hi Jeremy.

You may find the 1/35 Trumpeter ones are cheaper, and they are lovely kits. The only ones I am missing are the ones with German markings. I got all mine for under $20 each, except the newest one, 1939 version.

Whatever you decide you have lots of time.

Sounds good Warren, where do you pick your 1/35 kits up for those prices? I'm sure I'll enjoy either way

I got mine on EvilBay. I have a great seller in China I buy off. Here is one of his Buy Now kits

He has the whole range.

Thanks Warren, you must have had good luck with them otherwise you wouldn't still be buying. After the experiences I've had with South Korean merchandise, I'm going to hold off on dealing with Chinese vendors.

But that aside, tell me about the 1/35 kits. I've never really seen one before, so I'd like to hear what you have to say about them.

I have never had any trouble with Jiang, in fact he sent me a total replacement kit when I found a problem with one I got, no postage.

I have built many Trumpeter kits and would compare the moulding to the best in the business. The only trouble you can have sometimes are ejector pin marks and some seam lines occasionally. Fit is normally great and the kits are NORMALLY well engineered.

Copy. I'm getting pretty pumped up for this campaign and look forward to maybe getting my hands on more than a few of these heavies

Jeremy check the reviews as I did a partial build review of one, and Jim R has alos tackled them in the reviews ssection. Yes they can be improved but they are very good kits as regards accuracy from the box.

Ok, better late than never. I'll just have to read up on what the heck I'm gettin' into here, considering this will be my first campaign, but I'm in!
Maybe it will motivate to actually complete more models than 2 or 3 a year!

Warren: Here is an idea for the campaign ribbon.

It's a white silhouette of a KV-2 turret with a red Soviet star on a Soviet green field. I added a slight texture and some lighting to give it a more realistic feel, but I can easily remove that. Let me know what you think, and if you have any ideas for changes or are happy with it the way it is.

I think the texturing just makes the image cluttered.

It does look a lot cleaner without the texturing, and thanks for the feedback Gary. This is my first campaign ribbon so I'm looking for constructive criticism like this

Great looking ribbon, but I would also remove the texturing. Definitely need that ribbon for the collection, though

Here is another banner since one of the other ones was saying "KV Killers" instead of "Killer KVs". I thought I had already posted it, but cannot find the post, so here it is.

Thanks for the feeback Jesper and Stan. Looks like the common consensus is going to disfavor the texture. I'll get back on in tonight and post it by some time tomorrow.

Thanks again

I would like to participate also. I did start on a KV-2, but only the turret and some wheels are done. Hopefully that wouldn't be a problem?

I like your ribbon very much, Jeremy. Just would like to ask, how would it look like with black profile of KV-2 with big red star on background or big letters "KV" and big red star behind them?

Thanks Kimmo! I've actually tried out the "KV" letters an it looks pretty generic. Using letters may work if I someone out there can send me the Russian letters for the tank's designation instead. As for the star I actually tried that out, and the star does not fill out the field enough unless I make the star oversize which would crop off the top and bottom points. I did try it that way with the KV turret profile in the star, but the turret ended up being too small to see. Those ideas would be great if the ribbon were about 3x larger though.
