Anyone out there have info/photos of MAZ-543 in its fifth wheel tractor configuration? I am interested in it either in the four or five passenger version? Notice the closer spacing on the two rear axles and the huge leaf springs instead of walking beams back there. I am thinking of mixing the Scud Missile Carrier cab with the MAZ-537 tractor kits to build this monster.- -the Chassis Man

F.Y.I. The Scud-543 kit has no driveline at all. The MAZ-537 kit has some driveline included in the kit but what is there is wrong. Please see below:

One detail that is left out entirely is the small but very visible driveshaft that runs from the top of the transfer case to the winch. In the kit the fixture is there on the transfer case and also the one on the bottom of the winch housing but no driveshaft to connect them????? I used a small driveshaft from a spare GMC Deuce.

I have a file about 1 1/2 inches thick of info for the MAZ 543 5th wheel conversion and also the axle diminsions but I cant seem to find that picture at the moment, also I have pictures of a completed truck made by a friend . He used a paper model to scale the kit he built complete with engine, drive train and passenger compartment hindged to open forward, up to service the engine. This is one of my future builds the name of the truck is MAZ 7410 in that version.

Look at this great image I just picked up from some photos that Frenchy (thank you) sent me! I love the extra foam bottles mounted up on the right side and the horizontal hose reel and manual foam spreading nozzle mounted/stowed on the fromt bumper! (More details I need to add to my model!)

Progressing on my fire truck with a very, very basic driveline.

I pulled the very flawed transfer case out of the Maz-537 tractor kit for use here. (I will be scratch building a new transfer case for the tractor since it is so visible in the finished kit.) I did scratch build an emergency brake assembly and many of the driveshaft parts came from my spares box, originally being sourced from the Tamiya M-26 recovery tractor.

Hey Gents, this weekend I attended a major Negional Concours Auto Show here in Lexington, KY. It happened to coinside with a B-17 fly-in the same weekend.

I am rather proud of the 25 or so photographs I have posted so far with more to come.

I would like to share so follow the link:

Guys,

Ok WOW, this truck is insane!!! I love it, its so big and ugly and monster like! I've wanted to do the scud launcher for ages now and I hope that one day I could pull off what you guys have here, they are wicked, take note Meng, Trumpter, tamiya, ANYONE! do a range of these trucks and they will sell, nothing sells better than a big mean looking kit to go on display

You got my vote! I always thought; darn the differences in scales - either you use the HO locomotive body and scratch the chassis, wheels and tires or you use the chassis, wheels and tires from the 1/35th scale kit and scratch the entire loco body!!!

Also, is it a 10x10 or really a 12x12 with one tire missing?
