Hi all...
do you know if the "Marina" t-55 of the photo is a polish built T-55?

(who is the owner of this pic?!I've it but I don't remember where it was taken)

The joints that hold the mantlet dust cover say yes but...
I need some photos about the engine deck.
Has it the squared hatches to access at the air filter!?Armored grilles?!?Do you know!?
I've few photos but they are bad in quality.
Do you have suggestions(sites, links, books) for hi-res pictures?!
PS
I've also "balkan at war" but the problem with low resolution is still here sad.gif

Hi Ciro

I'm building a JNA t55 so i downloaded a lot of photos of balkan t 55

I don't have a high-res photo of croat t55 MARINA but (i don't remember where) i've found this pic:

On the right you can see the back view of Marina t55

at 99% is a polish t55 (note the hatch on the right without bulge and without net)

If you want to research more info you can go on croatian modeller's sites:

http://www.hrcappuccino.org/

or

here :
http://www.hr-maketari.com
(Here there is a post dedicated to your tank, but you have to register to see the contents)

You can go also on the site of 1rst croat tank tiger brigade (www.tigrovi1gbr.com); t55 Marina belonged to that brigade

Hi erik

Seeing the two circled details (rear hatch and turret loophole shape) i think this a russian made t55, but i might be wrong

Another detail on the rear view of "T55 Marina" that i've noticed, is this:

The polish t55s usually have this plate on the rear armour...

...which the russian t55s dont'have...

so "Marina t55" is in my humble opinion a polish t55 tank.

Cheers

That is not Marina, it is on the left parked next to the house.

Also the clear lane marker mount on the rear wall of T55s is not an ID feature for Russian or WarPac built tanks. Both could have either style.

Hi Tony

In the same zone (near the same house) there were two t55s

The first and the second pic that you posted, were probably snapped in two different times

Marina T55 had huge croatian ensigns on the both side of the turret
I can't see the croatian badge on your first photo

Look here for more details:

Shield or not - I couldn't tell. At least it's obvious that time has past between when the B&W and the color photos were taken.

This one may be known to you but at least it's new to the thread:

Tony I don't agree
In my opinion If it was the croat shield it would be larger and more visible.

Furthermore in Marina t55 the croat shield is placed more back than that position

But it doesn't matter

Unfortunatly we don't have Hi-res pic

What?!?
Why Haven't I received post notification!??!
discussion goes along and I don't know anything...too bad!!!

Mauro
A big Thank you for the pics and links...

Erik
Thank you for the mail and thank you for your suggestion, definitely the tank in your photo(the one posted here).
It's a russian t-55 built, not polish.I'm sure about this, first because there are details that are just pointed out and second because you also can see the wading rail around the engine grilles.Polish 55 have the armored grilles and no wading rail. This is a tipycal polish feature.

Tony Mauro and Erik
About the discussion if the tanks on the first BW photo is or not the R-24 Marina I don't know, however the photos that you have posted here are a good reference to model the tank :-)

So we have that this is for a 99% a polish built tank. And for a polish t-55 we have reference at hr.cappuccino
We have bison decal for the insigna
I think that the things can go on along this way....

Thank you gentlmen!!

If someone has better pics or in hi-res please post them here!

Regards

Hi!
There is no doubt that "Marina" is Polish build T-55. Note that there are two sets of photos of "Marina". One is form fall 1991 (October-November) with mudguards, and second set is from early spring 1992 without mudguards, and tiger head painted on right side of turret. Both sets of photos are taken on almost same place in Karlovac (Turanj). Today there is a military museum near this place in village Turanj (old Austro-Hungarian fortress). Note that "Marina" has 0,50 Browning instead od Dskh machinegun.
Second tank on your photos is called "Croatia" and it has number "25" (Marina is "24"), and also had tiger head painted on turret (tiger head was simbol of 1A. Brigade) and BISON is giving decals for this tank also, but instead of inscripiton "Croatia" on turret toolbox, BISON for some reason gives inscription "Grom" (Thunder). This two tank combined with other two T-55 called "BING" and "333" were responsible for holding line between town of Karlovac and village Duga Resa. Also if Bison decals where to be used, note that Marina had 4 Croatian crests, and Bison gives you only three. Hope this helps.

Guido!
le ho!!;-) I've them...grazie per l'interesse!
Tomo
thank you for explanations andthe description of details,I've saved your notes.
Right now I'm working on a polish built t-55,but this will be less colorfull than Marina.
I've planned to do a r-24 Marina and I've on the way some items that I need but this will be a long time project.
Sure I'll post my model to suggestions here. It's also a balkan tank(serb)but based on some photos that are on wwp book about 55

Regards to all

Hi all

There is also high-res version of one of the photos posted earlier in the thread available on the Internet.

According to information provided with picture, it was taken in April 1992. Place is same - Turanj, Karlovac.
