discovered something that might be of use. in meng's kit part B26, it's the actuator bar for the fording system, fits perfectly on tamiya's T72. meng doesn't use that part, but instead a much shorter one and only the forward portion. so, if anyone's at a loss for what the part is or what to do with it, now you know. B26 goes on the left rear between the engine deck hatches and stowage/exhaust outlet

thx. had a wth moment while building it up. thought I had missed something and went back thru the booklet and that part # was nowhere to be found:-?. only similar part was already in use, and the tam didn't have such a part so it got a new home. so sense in leaving it in the box, yanno?

If you want to use an AM metal barrel, do not bother with the RB offering. Very simplified and very inaccurate in terms of appearance.
Much nicer, though technically harder to assemble is the offering from Voyager. The barrel jackets are seperate parts with very, very nice clamps - they even include a weld seam for the fume extractor. I'm about 90% through putting together the Voyager barrel - will post some pics when completed if anyone is interested.

Gary please post images when you're done, I've got the Meng kit and I bought the RB barrel but I'm not satisfied with it. I decided not to buy another one until I find a decent one so you're pictures would really help me decide.

Kind regards, Sven.

Hi Sven

Probably not going to get time to finish this barrel until next week so some WIP shots for you...

Now, I have a tendency to often deviate from instructions and do things a little different. The thermal jacket at the end closest to the turret is basically as designed by Voyager. But, I'm not keeping the lip on top as described and adding parts N2,3 & 4 - will make new parts from styrene strip.
The other thermal jacket at the business end is made from lead sheet as I found this much simpler to roll to shape (despite annealing the cr@p out of the brass!).
The sleeve clamps are the stand out part of the kit though.

WOW Gary, really astounding work on the barrel, I think I'll get that one myself. Will you be replacing any other parts from the kit? Looking forward to seeing pictures of the finished barrel.

Kind regards and thanks for the images, Sven.

No, the Russians do not use the export version of the T-90.

Hi guys, I wonder if anyone of you has any pics of the engine of the T90 and his compartment, and also the details that can be glimpsed through the hatches of the crew because I want to improve the Meng model.
Thanks for any eventual answers.
Cheers -Il Colonnello

Best source of that kind of info on T-90 IMHO are the disks by Alexey Hlopotov (Gur Khan) - you can find them here: http://otvaga2004.ru/disk-t-90-1/

I am not connected to them in any way so please do not concern this as an ad.
It's just a reference that I use personally when building Meng's T-90A

Next year (Feb 2018) Osprey Vanguard will have a volume on the T-90 Standard tank by S Zaloga. I came across it last night while shopping on Amazon. I look forward to buying this title.
