Truth be told, if I finish one campaign a month between now and then, I should be ready to go right on time.

Hi Jeremy,

I am thinking of building a diorama if I join this campaign. So my question is: do I need a brand new set or can I use a half finished set (or perhaps a finished one?).

Thanks,

Simon: Great to have you with us!

Vladimir: I'm not sure that I understand your question. Could you explain a little more?

Hi Jeremy,

If I would like to join, am I allowed to use a tank that I have already started building? Or does it have to be a new set? (I am planning on building a diorama)

Thanks,

Ok, understood and thanks for better clarifying. Is the tank for another campaign? And could you describe your diorama idea?

It is not of a campaign, its an M48 from tamiya. The dio will depict the tank in a sand bag bunker.

Sounds great! Just set the model aside and don't start working on it again until this campaign starts

Hi Jeremy,

I would like to clarify some points if it’s possible. I would like to state that the tank is almost completed (painted with decals on, it only needs weathering and gear), is this acceptable?

Also when will this campaign start and what are the rules?

Thanks for the help,

Follow the link Gary posted, it'll give you a good rundown on how campaigns work and where to go to find information on existing campaigns, as well as what's involved in creating them.

As for your M48 Project, are you planning on adding figures? And how involved is the diorama going to be?

Hi again,

I am not sure I understand what you mean by “And how involved is the diorama going to be?” but I have been thinking about the diorama, so I will just state what is on my mind.

The plan is to have an M48 Patton (from Tamiya) in a sort of sand bag fort/bunker. I have been given several reference pictures depicting such scenes:
(Thank you Frenchy )

Yes, I will be adding figures, until now I have two GI’s from an academy set and the tanker from the M48 set. I might add some Verlinden troop’s maybe Legend. It will be a simple diorama with the main sand bunk bunker and a small barracks next to it (I have seen them in the movie Platoon, and assumed it was accurate).

The scale will be 1/35th scale and the base will be approximately 30cm by 20cm. The barracks will be cut in half to show the interior. The diorama is mostly going to contain sand bags and sand.
I hope I have answered your questions,

Thanks,

Vlad,
What Gary and Jeremy seem to be working around to saying is that your tank kit is too far along to count toward the group build, but your bunker, sandbags, figures, and setting will be your official entry. Rest assured.
Now just don't start on them until the official start date.
Looking forward to a good campaign!

Vlad: Sean is correct, your diorama plan combined with the figures will be an excellent choice for a campaign entry. The M48 itself is too far along to count as an entry. Welcome to the campaign!

Axel: I'm really liking the last ribbon. I'm wondering if the M16 should be blue and the AK47 yellow? This would bring two more important colors in to balance things out in a way that represents Vietnam, China, Russia, the United States, France, England and the Commonwealth countries that were involved. Just a thought. You may need to outline the AK47 to make sure that it stands out appropriately if you go this route.

Jeremy, I hope I didn't step on your toes there! I'm all cocky with my new first ribbon. But Vlad sounded a little lost, and being new, I didn't want him to lose heart. I hope that resolved it.
thanks.
Oh, and yes, I picked up my kit from the hobby shop, and yes, I've been staring at it there on the shelf. Still plenty of time to research-- maybe add some ground clutter around it. I'm a little sheepish about the size of my 1/72 aircraft as my entry-- need to dress it up into something more impressive.

Had to do it by hand. Maybe someone else knows how to use the graphics program a little better and can do it without making a hash of it.

Alex nice job on those ribbons, I think I'm liking the red background of the 2nd or 3rd one.

Sean: Not at all, you were well intentioned and took initiative to help out.
You're getting me really curious about your build now...

Axel: No need, you did a great job coloring the two assault rifles.

I like where all of the ribbon designs are going, so feel free to chime in guys!

Count me in!!
I don’t mean to be annoying, but am I allowed to continue my work on the tank or do I keep it aside?

Thanks,

The tank isn't going to be considered part of your official entry, so feel free to finish it before the campaign starts. This will allow you to focus on your diorama and figures once the campaign is officially launched.

Right on Sean!

I've noticed that there is not a lot of information out there on the LSSC, and I would encourage you to share any resources that you find with the rest of the group

Hey Jeremy

I've just enlisted for this campaign and I was wondering if I could continue with a WIP I started a while ago but never really got going. I plan on building a dio of some seals or SOG operatives being dropped off on a jungle river bank by a LSSC. At this point only 3 figures have been assembled but still require a lot of work, and the LSSC and base haven't been started. Can I use this build as my campaign entry?

Also for anyone who needs LSSC references, there are some in my dio thread here that may be useful.

I have quite a few LSSC links and photos so if anyone wants them pleas pm your email address.

Anirudh, I'll give you the green light on this. Just hold off on any further work until the campaign starts.
Thanks for your link on LSSC

Cheers

Jeremy
