Hi Dave,
sorry to have raised this point but as Mike mentioned you don't need to remove the whole texture but just to soften it.

Hi Dave,
I appreciate the compliment
I'm glad you like the pictures on the site. I hope they'll help you to detail a bit more your B2. But beware of the hyper detailing syndrome

Dave,

Dat's one crazy lookin' char d'ba-tail, mon ami!

Does it get a straight French OD green or are there some cammo options?

Look forward to seeing this one in person.

In fact you get some more

Plus the desert two-tone camo.
So the choice is yours

David,
this won't be an easy build as this B2 is the OPFOR tank with some Vismods designed to represent a T-72 hence the fake bore evacuator on the 105mm gun.

Here is a link to a French site with lots of pics. Don't worry about the three-tone painted ones, they too are modified like those in the blue-grey and black scheme.

Forgot to mention, I have one on my site.
It's a model depicting a tank with the combat simulation system (named DX175) used at the French NTC. It has been made by a friend of mine and is really good and accurate. The markings are artistic license though as there is no rules about them.
The official markings are the Army ID plates. Some crews added personal nicknames either in latin or cyrillic letters, red stars and even a red maple leaf (the TC was Canadian born).

Nice build Dave but unfortunately you applied a camo which is not suitable for the Daguet version you built. I hate to tell you that.

The extra smoke dischargers and the dazzler on top of the turret were only fitted to the desert camoed AMX30B2 during the operation Daguet, French part of Desert storm.
As soon as they came back to France, the tanks were put to the original standard and got the three-tone camo again.

Forgot to add the question before the EDIT option disappears !

Do you intend to use the newly released Friul tracks ? I saw them on a model and they are really great.

Don't worry about that Dave. What's important is the fun you had while building it. And if you're pleased with it, let it this look.

Personnally, I never understood why those protection devices were removed after the war as they were already paid and used. Another administration mystery
