Is this really a Conway FV 4004? I've built the Accurate Armour conversion and it looks quite different.

I've done a few searches and I think it's actually a FV 4005, not a Conway and a totally different gun.

Sorry guys there is no display with this vehicle and I only know what the staff at Bovington tell me.

Christophe I am sorry you feel aggrieved by my incorrectly titled walk around (it happens) and it has now been corrected. As I am currently working 12 hour night shifts verifying your information was not something that I had the time to do at that exact moment, I also believed that the staff I had spoken to at Bovington where the best people to identify this vehicle as one of them told me he had crewed it, I was wrong in that belief.

I am unsure Christophe if you are aware but the staff at Armorama and KitMaker Network in general are all volunteers and are not paid at all to provide material and support to the various sites respective memberships. This means the staff here are not always in a position to drop everything when a problem is identified. I hope that you are now happy with this walk around.

For information the Conway FV 4004 (as shown on the linked site) if it is still at Bovington is not currently on public display. I should also add that my research contradicts the site you have linked to as Staff at Bovington have told me that the original turret of the (4005 as now identified) is in storage, and the turret shown is a replica of that turret. I have no way of verifying that information further.

Thanks for these pics of the butt-ugliest tank I've ever seen! Makes you wonder what on earth was so tough it took a 7-inch (gulp!) AT round to knock it out! I suppose the next stage of development was to haul a complete battleship over land to get even bigger guns...

its the 183mm gun on a mk 8 gun tank hull not the mk5 hull it was built on.

I have AA's Conway conversion, but I think this one would be a great addition to the Centurion collection. Any chance you could get shots of the turret top at some future date?

I'd agree here and also with what Darren pointed out, the staff here aren't paid, but take the time and trouble to bring something of value to the site. First you got to get there, then pay to get in, then take the pictuers, then come home, upload them, resize them and then upload them into an article and await publication.

i don't know how many walkabout I've uploaded, but it's a fair few. Somethimes one or two people will say thank you and that's always nice but you can bet you bottom dollar if you make a mistake in the naming of the vehicle someone will spot it straight away . That's good and I've personally changed a few that I got wrong, but you go on the infomration you have either read or been given, unless you know the specific vehicle. Adding hugh amounts of time into research is not something we can all do, or have the time to do. So yes, point out an error and it will get fixed but do it in a nice way, it costs you nothing, does it?

Darren that's an ulgly looking beast for sure. Do you know if any of these ever got past the testing stage?

I have found some info in a Centurion book and it would appear to have been a flop as it suffered the same issues as the KV2 when it came to firing, by this I mean level ground and forward facing only. I was told by someone who trialled this vehicle that one ended up on its back when firing, how true that is I have no idea.
