Hello all ,
For a long time I've been wanting to do this vehicle, some time in the not too distant future ( a modernized M24 chaffee ) . Unfortunately I have very little reference material . Does anyone have any reference they could possibly share or know of any good websites ?
I know that Italeri does an M24 but I was wondering if anybody knew if any other manufacturer does one ( in 1:35 scale ) and are there any conversion kits for an NM-116 out there or will I have to scratch build??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Andy

Hi Andrew

Did you see the walkaround on Primeportal ?

http://www.primeportal.net/tanks/erik_torp/nm_116/

AFAIK, Italeri's M24 is still the only 1/35 game in town...

The walkaround on Prime Portal is great. I've also got an old magazine article that has some basic measurements for the changes to the engine deck. No good measurements on the barrel but I think the barrel from a M48 would do the trick.

I've got some pictures downloaded to my hard drive from some Norwegian websites but I'd be hard pressed to remember what website. Concord's Armor of the West has a few pictures of the tank in the field.

I have not seen any conversion kits. From what I've heard, I think the Diehl tracks on the NM-116 were also used on the European M109 or M110s. The Italeri M-24 kit tracks are not great and as far as I know not used on the NM-116.

The tracks from the Revell M109A3G are the ones to use if going for the Diehl track.
A M41 sprocket will fit those thracks. The sprocket had 12 teeth when fitted with Diehl tracks and the original with the american tracks. This according to information i have. But

An update on Frenchy's find. "The Vikings - Norway's NM116" is in fact Military Hobbies November-December 1990 which contains several articles of the quality expected for that time frame and one of those articles is "The Vikings!" about Viking re-enactors and another is "Norway's NM116" which is the article I mentioned previously.

A bit misleading on the part of the webstore but thankfully not expensive. I now have two copies of the magazine if someone wants one.

g'day Paul ,
Well , I finally made it back . Many thanks for holding that article , would you be able to scan it & e-mail it to me or shall we come up with some other arrangement ? Please PM me in regards to this.
In other news I've seen that Bronco Models has stated that they are going to do an M24 !! I've never built a model by them but one of my mates has and he loves them!!
Another question : does anyone have any pics of the crew uniform towards the end of the NM-116s service or where I could find some?
Take care all,
Cheers,
Andy

Change the gallery, so new URL for above link: New URL

I also made a little "book" about NM116 years ago, lasterprinted landscaep A4 spiralbound with scale drawings.

I think there are some copies left at Smallsize Hobbyland shop in Norway, try to write Lars at [email protected] to get a copy.

Hi Paul
I wonder if you still have a copy of that article of the NM116?

I have just reviewed the latest Asian version of Bronco's Chaffee here: http://modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=miniart&action=display&thread=2454&page=1
and in reply to a question I've mentioned the NM116 as a possible further variant for Bronco to model. I don't suppose they will though

Would it be possible for you to mail me a scan of the article if you still have it?

Cheers
