Marcos,

Good job on the Skink, but please don't call it a "late" version. There were no "ear'y" or "late" versions. There were only 8 castings made in total and only three vehicles built. All period photos show the turret design with the overhang. Photos of the last two remaining turret castings (both, I think, now in Alberta) show the overhang. Only a set of sketches form the manual show the turret without an overhang and I am sure this was a simplification for the manual, possibly from early turret concepts prior to the incorporation of the Polstens.

While it is pretty unlikely we'll ever find the paperwork to prove it, I'd bet a substantial sum that there was only ever one turret design produced. It's inconcievable that they would have gont to the trouble to make the drawings and patterns for two designs knowing, in advance, that they were only building a very small batch of test vehicles. George Bradford's drawing of an "early" turret are, I believe, in error and I told him so a number of years ago, but this was before the present day photos of the remaining castings surfaced.

You do need to add the spare track brackets on the turret sides.

I'm afraid the markings are a tad off as well. Your markings are for the 1st Hussars of the 2nd Cdn Armoured Brigade (although you are missing the white stripe under the 51 for that unit). While it has never been firmly established exactly who operated the single Skink that saw service, it almost certainly wasn't the 1st Hussars. Given that the Skink toured around the various units of 1st Cdn Army, it's highly likely that it was operated by F squadron of The Elgin Regiment and the markings for that would be "465" in a green over blue square with the 1st Cdn Army sign on the other fender.

You can see the markings here:

Thanks, Dave and Paul....

And Paul, sorry about early and late ...
The correct would be "prototype" and "production"??

Thanks for the explanations and IŽll fix the marks...

Thanks, again...

Oh, it's not your fault given that the information readily available is, at best, suspect.

Frankly, I think it best to totally ignore the other turret design as even the word prototype implies that it existed and I'm quite sure it did not. The version with the welded mild steel turret and four Oerlikons did exist and is the proper home of the term "Skink prototype".

The Elgin markings on the tank look good, although whether the Skink prototype was ever actually painted with any unit markings is in some considerable doubt. When I did mine, the only markings I applied were the shipping markings it arrived in England with. Anything else is pure conjecture. You might want to note that it is pretty certain that the operational Skink used the CDP track, but I personally know how insane it is to create a set of tracks from scratch. The T54s are a reasonable second choice.

As usual an outstanding job Marcos

A question for you

What do you use to glue resin parts each other, resin and metal parts and metal parts togethert?
Do you use two epoxy glue or CA glue?

Thanks in advance and congrats again

cheers

Indeed, Paul...

Making CDL tracks in scratch is insane... My (lazy) option was the standardization of the tracks, in operacional use (Sherman tracks- T41.)

All the best and thanks, again...

Mauro, I used CA or super-glue to glue resin-resin parts and metal-resin parts.
if I need more strenght (big resin parts),I leveled parts with CA glue and do the real bonding with epoxy. The CA stabilizes the parts while the epoxy catalyzes...

I apply a minimal amount of CA in the periphery of the large piece to be glued and apply the epoxy in the center of the piece, without them "touching"

As in a street fight, CA holds and epoxy hits!!

All the best !!!

Hey, watch who you're calling insane, there buddy!!!

I scratchbuilt a set of CDP track for my Skink almost 20 years ago. I'm not sure I've recovered even yet.
