Just enlisted and looking at the possibility building either a T-54 model 49, T-55K1, T-55AM, T-62MK, or maybe T-64 when trumpy's comes out. Still december is a ways off to make up my mind. Either way, looking forward to this campaign.

I'm planning to build a Chieftain or maybe a T-64 like Christopher (if Trumpeter will release the kit)

I pulled my T-72 kit out and on the instructions it had a winter scheme in 1989, UdSSR.

I need to do some homework on that because this particular paint scheme shows NO USE of the kits decals at all! So ... I need more substantial proof than that. There are other schemes that utilize decals for the targeted time so we'll see.

What I like about this kit is that there are long runs of track links already put together, the modeler just needs to glue individual links around the sprocket and idler, and then for some sag.

Mike, I'm not sure a Duster would be allowed. It's not a MBT.

John, Sort of a clarification. Do you consider Desert Storm/Shield to be the end of the Cold War to be the end of the Cold War or the start of the start of the post-Cold War era?

I don't have any plans of doing a Desert Shield/Storm MBT but I do have an idea set about that time. Just kind of kicking around some ideas.

Yes Alex you are right, no Duster here.

About your Desert Storm question..
Final Cold War Timeline, I consider these events as the last days of the Cold War:

December 26, 1991 – The Supreme Soviet recognizes the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

December 31, 1991 – All Soviet Institutions cease operation.

John (nito), Thanks. I just wanted a clarification.

The idea that I am leaning towards is a scenario of NATO (or Warsaw Pact) forces going about their thing while Coalition and Iraqi Forces squared off. Basically, I would be doing a vehicle stationed in Europe during 90/91. Along that same line, I might go back a few more years to a similar vehicle dated during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Then again I may just do an S-Tank.

Jeff no problem with that T-72.

These dates were the end of the Cold War

December 26, 1991
– The Supreme Soviet recognizes the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

December 31, 1991
– All Soviet Institutions cease operation.

Anything before that is good to go

Mike, I would have like to seen the Duster build. That's a good idea though. Maybe a more generic Cold War campaign at some point.

Hi Mike!

You have already submitted the idea? Are you going to start a thread on it?

Sounds like an interesting concept and I'd like to learn more.

I proposed a similar one years ago.. not enough people and I also ran into a few personal problems and was away from the bench for quite awhile

It would be interesting Mike, no doubt.
Go for it.

I am on deck for this one. Great subject matter! Lookin' like a Tamiya 1/35th scale Chieftain in Berlin Brigade urban camo.

Welcome Jim & Jose !!

Jose will you use Tamyia's kit with a Legend conversion or will you scratchbuild the IDF changes ?

Jim, that's also a good choice, but what are the 4 colour camo ? I'm a bit lost on my M60's knowledge...

Hi John,

I'm leaning toward building Trumpeter's latest T-62 kit.

I still have some research to do as I'm dumb as a doornail when it comes to modern armor.
