Don't see any reason why German Armour can't be used, after all they were there too.

Al

Hey Al, please school me. What German armor was there?

~ Jeff

Hi Jeff,

See page 2 and subsequent posts, should be plenty to choose from.

Hi everyone ,

Sorry if this has already been posted but was the Crusader AA Mk.I used during the landings? I know the Mk.III was but I'm not entirely sure about the Mk.I.

My birthday is today as well

I have a Italeri Marine Sherman that would fit into this Campaign perfectly, BUT ...

... it must start NEXT year for I have way too much on my plate right now.

Sorry.
Hate to tell you this but a marine sherman wont work for d-daydue to the fact that the marines used M4A2 shermans and italeri's marine sherman is a highly inaccurate M4A2 it seems they combined both a m4a3 and a M4A2 in one hull

Sorry.

Hate to tell YOU this but the eligibility of that Sherman kit has already been discussed and determined. IF you had read the WHOLE thread you would have discovered that. All you're doing now is either rubbing it in or harassing me, so go find something to do.

I think Dave has a handle on things here so enough with the Sherman information. I would explain a little further of my intentions but you probably won't read this too, so I won't.

And by the way, you didn't use the quotation feature here correctly either.

@Kieran: Happy birthday! I think the Crusader Mk I was used, but I'm not 100% certain... Maybe Alan can help you out here, else you'll have to do some more research.

@Jon: Welcome a board! And thanks for using the banner! I only just noted it.

@Gary: Thanks for the link!

@Nick: I don't really get the point of you post... Or maybe I'm misreading the quotes. anyway, Jeff is well aware by now of that particular Sherman. you are welcome to join the campaign of course, if so, what will you build?

@Jeff: I am very interested in your further intentions. so, enlighten us, what are you gonna build?

I'll try to post some pictures tonight of my build, it's gonna be the Tamiya Centaur with extra PE from Aber and deep wading gear, also from Aber.

I do have an AVRE mk IV here to and a few Sherman's from Tasca. The firefly with cast cheeck armour would also be nice, or the Sherman III. I also have an idea about a Cromwell with hessian camo. Difficult to choose.

It's more like I'm well aware of the direction of this Campaign now. And my intentions were outlined earlier and what I am going to build has already been decided, and discussed.

I thought you were gonna elaborate a bit more on your build or had some ideas or so... But it seems I misunderstood. Never mind.

Anyway, and that goes for everyone, I'm very invested to hear more about your builds, ideas, research and so on. It's the sharing part that makes this fun.

Hi guys,

This will be my build:

I've also added a chain from AK Interactive in the mix.

I first have the finish a few other models, but then I'm starting on the Centaur.

Dave, the "intentions" were in reference to what I was going to "change" on the Italeri Sherman kit to get it to work with this Campaign and before I had the chance to explain I have someone who isn't even signed up here telling me all about how it won't work.

Well, I am well enough versed on Shermans (but that's another story) to know what I WAS going to do, but even that apparently wasn't going to be good enough because of the hull angle. Hey, I tried. It is what it is, so be it.

I don't need members not associated with this Campaign getting on here spouting off. THE SHERMAN IDEA IS DEAD folks!! Leave it alone.

I was going to build and add to the KIRIN dio idea, but I now have doubts about it as too much has been tossed around about it.

Hey, I've got kits now! Let's see, you're building a Centaur? How about a Cromwell? Any questions or doubts about that? Or a Hetzer? What about an A1 Sherman with the Rocket Launchers mounted on top? Any V1's or V2's flying over during this time period? Or an LVT-(A1) Amtank? It's apparently not gonna be good enough for this other Campaign I'm in. Guess I'll have to get an APC for it afterall.

So you pick!! What's it gonna be?

Hi Jeff,

I would've love to see your Kirin kit, I think a fortification would make a great build, but it's of course completely up to you.

Yep, I'll be doing the centaur, gonna try to match the famous picture of Hunter.

I was also doubting about doing a Cromwell, which will fit the bill perfectly! You can do the Cromwell, oyu can even add some wading gear. the Aber kit I have also works for the Cromwell and is quite cheap. I think accurate armour also has a wading kit for the Cromwell.

A Hetzer would also be a great pick. There were definitely hetzers around of the 21st, 12th SS or 150th panzer divisions.

I don't think the others would fit the bill though. the LVT maybe, but other members might judge that better then I can.

I have a feeling a lot of members will choose for axis armour, so if you let me do the picking, I'll go for the Cromwell! with wading gear.

Guys,

I was just thinking about something, don't forget the airborne landings!

So, if anyone wants to build a tetrarch tank, or doing a diorama about Pegasus bridge, or even a Horsa glider, they will all qualify for the prize.

The only limit is your imagination! And the historical DDay theme of course.

Have fun!

Hey Anthony,

Welcome a board!

Well, you can go either way, or the centaur or something around the British airborne, or both.

Why not a small diorama where the British airborne link up with the seaborne troops, in this case the Centaur...

Looking forward to your build.

Nah ... I'm going to stick with the turret bunker.

Especially after spending a few minutes working on the warning sign:

Although there is not much in the kit, it's WHAT you can do to the kit to make it better and more realistic. And most of the stuff you need is right outside your house, place of business or can fabricate.

This will be the break from the conventional armor builds and have a little creative fun at the same time. No rules, measuring the degrees or unit markings.

Just plain old fun.

(too bad this turret didn't have a barrel)

Dave, I'm glad you brought up the paratroops. I might join up a bit later. I have to see how the next couple of months go.

I was thinking of how to tie in the paratroops. I had a Great Uncle that jumped in with the 82nd. Him, his Lieutenant, and some other paratroopers linked up with some light US armor. They later were shot to pieces by a German emplacement.

But I was thinking of maybe doing something with them riding on a Stuart before they got hit. He was badly wounded and his Lieutenant was killed.

My Great Uncle's account of D-Day was taken for a planned book by Reader's Digest to commemorate D-Day landings. I have a copy of his account around here somewhere. If I can get the details worked out, I may try something along those lines.

My secondary choice would be a Bren Carrier.

Ah,

So many choices I might go down the Churchill route with a Fascine or maybe an SBG

Cheers

@Jeff: that kit looks huge! I'm sure you'll gonna have a great build there!

@Alex: you could also do something around Dead Mans Corner, but that is of course 101st... But could be great nonetheless. The damaged Stuart, a few troopers around it... And plenty of pictures to find.

@Alan: looks like this is going to be an awesome build of you. Looking forward to it!
