Sorry Jeff, if you look close it's actually got an M4 engine deck - the donor tank was built as an M4(105mm) howitzer tank. These had the late "big hatch" 47-degree glacis with the early radial engine from the M4. Still a cool build!

Thanks for the kind words Jeff...Let it be known that Paul helped me out; he's a great guy. He ran a great campaign and it was a lot of fun. Once I deployed, I had a kit shipped to me. I built it, but painting was too impractical. He was good enough to give me credit. For my part, I have to paint the kit I finished over there, which of course got damaged pretty bad when I mailed it home. So now it's in the queue waiting for repairs and paint.

I just reviewed the reviews and since you have both kits and know what's in them I would go with the Dragon kit ... if I were to build one of them first. The A3 has those DS T48 rubber chevron tracks with duckbills, which look pretty cool, has a good amount of PE and a full decal sheet too that can do many different Shermans.

The A2 is okay (and a cool Sherman no doubt) but is severely lacking as far as what it has to offer in the kit.

So there it is, my choice and or opinion.

hi Jeff, Can I ask what reviews you read? Why do you say the Academy kit is severely lacking? Is it the lack of decal options? I'm not a flag waver for Academy but they do seem to come in for some unfair criticism for the Shermans.

The Dragon M4A3 requires some tweaks to complete as an M4A3- the grouser covers- which the M4A3 didn't have need to be removed
