Simply an outstanding thread of an outstanding build! Thank you for this.
I also thank you for explaining the M-47 vs IS-3 and T-54/55 family. It seems that many assessments from the 1970s and 1980s dismissed the Patton series as very inferior to Soviet tanks I have not read any new histories of the Cold War tanks so I am grateful that you took the time to give your experience.
A model question: the gutters on the turret -- to channel rain away?Why were these attached?

Hi Frederick, thanks for the compliments but my M47 has a few faults that I will take away from my next model, as I have already written to Gary.
Regarding your question, the gutters have been welded on the turret precisely to channeling the rain, who it dripped otherwise inside the ring of the armor, entering the compartment of combat having regard to the rounded shape of the lower part of the turret.
Instead the gutters are both the channel, both the drip from the rain letting it fall out of the ring of the shell (as I have tried to draw on the picture who i present to you. I hope it is understandable)..
