This sounds like a wonderful idea. I have limited resources so I will look what my pile has to give forth. I might wrangle a Lion to build. See what happens.

Glad to have you with is Trevor! The point of this campaign is to have fun, so just have a good time mixing things around and see what you come up with. Just keep it on terra firma

well, I gotta take my modelling time when I can, so I've jumped the gun on this campaign knowing that the next time I can sit at the bench could be half a year from now!

Here's my Grizzly SAM; a bash of the Trumpeter Cougar, Late Grizzly, and AFV Club Chaparral.

Jeremy, I'm thinking of moving away from the steampunk tank idea. Some of the parts I was depending on for the base kit are missing.

I have an idea that I've been kicking around for a bit and it could fit in here. The plan is to mount a Katyusha rocket launcher on a Panzer IV/H. The rationality is that a captured BM-13 sand pressed it into service. I'm not sure if I would go turretless or if I'd mount it like a Sherman Calliope. turret to haul extra rockets. Change tracks.

The Panzer 4 I have is basically done. I'd have to disassemble parts of it, repaint, modify it, etc. I don't think there'd be a problem there but I figured I'd ask.

I finally signed up Now I just have to figure out what I am going to build. I am thinking of going steampunk, I just have to see if I can get that necesary parts to build my idea. I was also thinking of maybe going with a twist on the lend lease idea-Germans using hybrid western allied stuff against the Soviets. Just have to see what I can cook up.

I was going to show some photos of my project, yet photobucket seems to be having problems. I will be building the Cyber-Hobby orange label Panther II. A true what if for the whole project was cancelled. Going to use an Aber metal barrel beyond that not too sure.

Sounds great! I'd go for some extra deck detail, maybe some AA armor or something?

Should be some interesting stuff here.
I've been thinking about whats in my stash I could use and I'm pretty sure I have a couple of small scale WWI tanks, either Airfix or Emhars (or even one of each?). I'll be sticking with a War of the Worlds type theme and arm them with a reverse engineered heat ray. The rear wheeled steering unit might also be good place to mount a secondary generator to provide power to the rays. The end of the book does indeed mention attempts by British scientists and engineers to build their own to counter any future invasion, so it sort of fits within the Wells universe.

Here is the start of my project, a cyber-hobby Panther II. Read an update to what a person did to it to supposedly to correct it. I suspect that dml first released it then cyber did. The major problems the person had were corrected. He did state that the front and rear hull plate were off 5 degrees. Can not tell, who cares. Not too sure what I may do to it. Going to add 88mm metal barrel beyond that unknown. Photos of my status.

This would be very suitable for a "Rise of the Machines" campaign. Pegasus are going to do a 1/35 Hunter Killer from the Terminator 2 movie:

Roumer also has it there will be a tank Hunter Killer also....

Awesome, the more I've been looking at things like the T-28 and A39 the less I want to build one! Then I see the half-tracked VW in my files and just laugh. Might change it to a Kubelwagen just to keep it in /35th and I think I've got a couple rockets from an old A10 Warthog on my self.

I'm building a Katyusha launcher mounted on a Panzer 4. If anyone has a picture of such a vehicle please let me know. I've got a back-up plan if this one ended up being real.

Anyway, below are the pieces. ICM BM-13 Katyusha kit, an Academy Panzer IV/H, a set of Academy individual track links, and a Tamiya trailer that will serve to haul extra Katyusha rockets.

I'll come up with a background story in a bit.

I started on the Panzyusha last night. I got enough of the frame done to see how it looked on the turret, like a Sherman calliope. Not great. It would be easy to just flash over the panzer's turret ring and mount it straight to the tank. I want to avoid that. I have a turret from one of Dragon's old armored train cars that might work.

Why not use the normal turret ring/basket/base part for a rotating platform? Unless it's one of those odd kits with a two piece split in the middle of the turret?

Christopher, I'm gonna go with the railcar turret. Playing with the launcher and turret, I think it'll look better and look more purpose built than just mounting it to the hull. I still have a lot of work to do but I think I can get it to work.

By the way, anyone have any pictures of the shipping boxes for a Katyusha rocket? If not, I'll scratch up a basic box big enough to hold one.

David I just stumbled across the same video this evening
This takes scratch building to a new scale, 1;1

While I acknowledge the terrible struggle going in Syria right now, I get a kick out of the ingenuity of these guys.

Really!?!! An Nitendo controler for your remote weapon station?!?? really--- and you made this in your brother's garage

oh wait till the scratch builders get a look at this
