Is this an issue common to both of the turrets?

Unfortunately yes, the turrets are all the same just with different bases.

I have uploaded corrected guns with angled alignment pins that should solve the issue, but that doesn't really help those who have purchased already.

Had an issue with the master file corrupting when I tried to check the problem, but I think I made the pins slightly undersized compared to the hole to allow for printing inaccuracies, so there may be some wiggle room.

Thanks for the heads-up, but I was looking at filling in the holes and drilling new ones to elevate the guns, so no problem for me.

What is the outside radius of the curved recessed areas the guns fit onto? I assume these were curved shields on the real thing that elevated with the guns - it might be worth cutting them out and making my own "elevating" gun shields if I can find the right-sized tube...

The gun rotors were, indeed, fixed w.r.t. the guns and rotated with them. In fact the gun mounts are attached to these rotor cylinders. They are not "just" shields, but integral to the gun mount. They and the troughs that protect the springs are firmly connected and may actually be one piece (have to check my factory drawings for that).

Hey Paul,

Any chance your factory drawings list the rotor diameter?

The next question of course is standard or CDP track? I've seen pics with both, but wonder about the sole unit sent to NWE. (Is it worth robbing a Sexton kit?...)

I look forward to seeing what people can do with it.

I see a "what if" Korean War Canadian M4A3E8 Skink in the future...

On the model the rotor diameter should work out around 12.4mm

Panda Plastics also make CDP tracks, I believe they come with the sprocket...memory is fuzzy on that and it doesn't say here .

No, sorry, it's a general arrangement, not a detail part drawing. Those dimensions would be listed only on the part drawing for the rotor or the machined casting, not at the top assembly level.

I've seen the unit shipped to Europe in CDP prior to combat. I think the available photos were taken in Canada prior to shipping to the UK for testing, after which it was shipped to the continent for service though they could have been taken in England. But it's entirely possible that the vehicle had the tracks swapped out for service with regular units as the CDP track were not used on Shermans so it would have complicated maintenance to have to manage one vehicle with CDP while everything around, except the SP regiments, had T54E1.

I'd use the T54E1, frankly, as the most maintenance friendly probability. Although if you like the look of the CDP, there's no evidence showing it was actually changed.
