There is Model Master US Interior Green that matches teh interior green on late model US vehicles I've seen in photographs. But I've heard Tamiya Sky is supposed to represent older model interiors. Anyone have the story?

The only interior green I'm aware of is for aircraft. Does it have an FS number? The most recent posts I had seen indicate that modern AFVs have the blue interior.

Hi there,

been recently into an M113 A3. The color is light green. The color is named Seafoam Green. It of course depends what knd of vehicle do you look for. For example, Strykers and Abrams MBT have white interior. According to my Humbrol color conversion chart, Model Master #1732 matches Tamiya XF-14 J.A. Grey. This is the tone I use for my builds.

The standard interior color for most modern US APCs since Vietnam (M113, LVTP7/AAVP7, M270, M2/M3, M1117, etc.) is semi-gloss Seafoam Green (FS 24533).

Model Master US Interior Green (FS 34151) is the color used in open-topped vehicles like the M106A2 Mortar Carrier in the area under the open top hatches. It is not even close to Seafoam Green; it is too dark.

The closest match to Seafoam Green is Tamiya Sky, XF-21. You can also use Model Master Pale Green (FS 34227) with a few drops of white added as well. Another option is Krylon spray Pistachio. It matches Seafoam Green perfectly and is even semi-gloss.

An example.

Seafoam Green on M113A2:

Tamiya Sky, XF-21 paint on M577A2:

The Stryker is the anomaly in US APCs as it has a semi-gloss white interior, like tanks and other closed-top armored vehicles.

Thanks! BTW, does the sea foam color apply to all M113 versions (save for the very earliest)?

Yes, all M113 interiors were painted seafoam green except some of the very earliest M113 base models in the early days of Vietnam.
