I've got 2 MACK NO6s, both full resin kits- one is the ADV/AZIMUT kit, the other is from WESPE. NEITHER of them are wholly accurate, which considering the money I that invested in them, have proved to be a disappointment... The AZIMUT/ADV kit is very disappointing; none of the wheel rims have uniformly shaped lightening holes, the parts are fragile and there are a few other issues as well. The WESPE kit is heavy-handed and blocky, more like a toy than an expensive "boutique" resin kit... Great job on yours!!!

Thanks - I have a photo set on a fellow who corrected all his' resin kit's problems and it looks great. IM me your e-mail and I will send then to you. Don't know which kit he used. I checked them both out and desided to go scratch. Mine has A LOT of parts stollen from the Tamiya Dragon Wagon but almost everything is heavily reworked or scratch built.

This time a CCKW set up as a engineer vehicle used to carry pontons. (If I have this correctly a ponton is a hard sided, flat bottomed, boat like structure used to support temporary bridges and a PONTOON is generally used in the same type of application but is INFLATABLE.)

This truck had a swivelling bolster on the rear to support a stack of pontons loaded up side down. There was sometimes a two wheeled, pole type trailer hitched on behind to support the rear end of the pontons. (You may sometimes see Utility Company trucks pulling the same type of trailer with a load of telephone poles.)


Check out those cool Super Single tires on this puppy! Use the after market resin tires for your DUKWs so you can steal the original Italeri tires for use on your GMCs!

Hi, Mike! I only have one DUKW, and I bought a "corrected" aftermarket resin tire set for it years ago. I never liked the DUKW that much, but it was a "must have" in my collection, since it was such an important vehicle. CERTAINLY MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than all of those ridiculous "Paper Panzers" that the Panzer Geeks and model manufacturers are so enamored with!!! Yes, I have a few in my collection, but they are DEFINITELY NOT 1st Priority in my book... Besides the GMC 6-by's, I like ANY WWII US Softskins, and the M4-series tanks are my personal favorites in WWII Armor- It shows in my email addy: [email protected] ... Another pet peeve of mine: Why hasn't anyone done a "state-of-the-art" Dodge WC-series Ambulance kit? That old TESTORS/ITALERI/PEERLESS MAX kit has gotten REEEALLY long in the tooth... It seems like AFV CLUB is missing the boat with that one, what with their 3 other WC-series kits... What else are you interested in besides WWII Jimmies?

Check out an earlier posting in this thread - it is of a CCKW with a radio shelter and gen trailer, ALL with super singles.

If any one out there has replaced their DUKW with after-market resin tires I am your customer for the leftover Italeri tires!

As to the Peerless Max Ambulance: Just use the SkyBow/AFV Club chassis, engine, tires and front sheet metal and mount the old P-Max body onto it. (you can find them cheap enough - easy!) Steal a nice pioneer tool set from some Tamiya kit and you are all set with a very respectable model that could be a competition winner! Also I think Archer makes a replacement decal set for the amblance.

Get yourself a glass bubble 1/35th scale helicopter and spell out "GOODBYE" in white rocks on the heliport and you have yourself one hell of a MASH dio!

One of these days I hope I will get around to scratch building this one. I figure scratch building the shelter box is the best way to go given the price of the resin unit!

But is this before or after the two GMC/Chevy Army fire trucks I also want to build?

I have all the necessary parts in my GMC spares box except for one pair of Italeri Super Single tires. And I have already scratch built one Ben Hur trailer so this one should not be too hard!
