Well, September 1st starts my new job and since I'll have money again, I will join. I have always wanted T-54/55.
Oh, BTW, does anybody know some coversion kit for T-44?

Hi Josip, welcome to Armorama and welcome to my campaign.
Congratulations on your new job, I hope you wasn't to long out of work. As to your question the only kit I know of is here:-
http://www.accurate-armour.com/ShowProduct.cfm?manufacturer=0&category=3&subcategory=9&product=160
a bit pricey but that's your decision.

And Josip, please remember to sign up for the campaign otherwise
if you build and haven't joined us, you want get the award,
here's where to enlist:-

I have the accurate armour's offering, but keep inmind that it's based on the older ESCI t-55 kit from back in the day. The details are not bad, but you will need replacement wheels and tracks since the ones that come in the kit are poorly done. Here's the one I have been working on

Hi Paul, the ribbon looks killer with the yellow silhouette on the red background

I just picked up a Trumpy T-62 Mod 1962 for a decent price and was going to use it for the Cold War MBT campaign, but there's no way I'm going to finish anything by August 15 So I just enlisted her in this campaign. Hoping someone can walk me through a way to fix the rear hull mating angle and the fenders. I think it can be done with sheet styrene, but I'm all ears on what you all think.

Welcome on board Jeremy,
thanks for the compliment on the ribbon, you suggested the yellow thing anyway .
Now to the main issue, what problems are there with the T62 kit?
I've seen a couple built on here and nobody seems to have mentioned anything till now.
I have the Mod.1972 which is going to become a Tiran 6, so any info would be very helpful .

Jeremy don't worry too much about the angles on the rear deck, it's not that big of an issue, besides you really won't notice it once everything is built up. SAs far as the fenders go, I just use thing sheet plastic and the kit fenders as a guide to building new ones. Here's one of my T-62's that I have built on this site.

Paul: I don't think it was a problem with your kit. The Mod 1962 was their first iteration of this series and they made some blunders that seem overall relatively minor. I thought about building the ERA version next and seeing how it compares, if I actually have the time

Christopher: Great thanks, that helps a lot! So the rear deck area that is affected is pretty much covered by the fuel drums and stuff?

Just signed on December is a ggod time to start, since I'm elbow deep in 2 other campaigns. These have really helped break the model block rut I was stuck in.
I have 3 Tamiya T-55s in the stash, lots of time to pick one out.

Oh damn I've been playing with the idea of mating a t-34/85 turret to a t-54 hull and trying to scrath a t-44 and I've click on this campaign out of curiosity and see that the t-44 is allowed too!

count me in!

Thomas, Tristan welcome on board to both of you.

Thomas, I would not take bets on which will be the more popular built vehicle for this one :-

Tamiya T55's
or
Trumpeter T62's

Tristan, please build the T44, even it's scratched. I'm sure
you will get loads of help from everyone on here

And if you don't go for the T44, you have the German tank museum on your doorstep , where you could have a good look at the T55's and 62's from the NVA and reproduce one of those.

Funny you should mention the German Panzer Museum Paul, I was there just this weekend with my Dad and it really blew my mind how much they have on display there.

I will deffinitely be making another trip there towards the end of the year because I didn't have enough room on my camera this time and only took about 150 photos hehe

I am all eager and ready for this campaign

My entry is the Tamiya T-55 Enigma with Eduard zoom etch, RB model barrel, WW2 production tracks (should have bought lots of them...) and resin add on armor from Add On Parts.

Looking forward to start this one

Hi fellow campaigners,

such a strange situation to explain, but at 54 years old am as excited as a five year old about starting this, my very first, campaign!

My chosen subject I think, is going to be an Iraqi Type 69-II. I photographed the one at Saumur Museum recently and think it is a fascinating variant of the T54/55/62 family, being to some degree a fusion of the three types.

Being a bit of a champion for the underdog, I'm going to use this as the basis of my build:

I know that, compared with today's offerings, it's too tall/too long/too old etc, etc but I think that the worst of the issues are quite easily fixed and with the Verlinden conversion kit at least I won't have to worry about the turret!

Here's what I'm working on at the moment, another Trumpeter, and yes, one whose issues I haven't fixed.

Now, fingers crossed (second attempt) that I've done this right and my photos appear!

JH

p.s. I am very excited!

Hello Jon, and welcome to the campaign. Glad your excited about it but please control yourself and don't start early . We have a way to go before the start date.

Your choice is a cool one and I'm looking forward to that, even though you're using a low cost kit you'll make it look good I'm sure.
Here's what I did with my Trumpy T55 for Proxy War campaign:

Hello Paul, yes, a low-cost kit, but that wasn't the appeal. I know it has its shortcomings (ironically it's rather too long!) but the draw for me is the challenge of making a silk purse out of the proverbial sow's ear.

Once you add in the cost of all the after-market goodies this hobby can get quite expensive. Not at all like it was back when I first did it as a teenager.

Although 'very excited' don't worry, I've got so many other unfinished projects it will be a struggle to clear my bench before the campaign starts!

BTW love the T55/Hellcat.

Paul I just got the Tamiya Tiran 5 so I'm 90% sure to go with that although a Finish T55 is a remote possibilty. i always liked their cammo.

I would put my money on Tamiya and the fact that the T54/55 was more widely used then the T62, many more options for markings and cammo.

Hi there,
here's a banner to go with the campaign, if you don't like it
just say and we'll change it ,or if any of you have other ideas then let us see them

and here is another curiosity, a T55 with a bofors 40mm flak.

Does anyone know anything about this, like nationality, which Mk of Bofors etc
Or is it just a film set

Strangely enough I missed this one.

I have enlisted and my entry will be a Tiran 5 based on the Tamiya T-55 and the Blast model conversion set. Could also have a ModelKasten set of tracks.
