It was a quick build....about two and a half weeks. I actually finished it last night. The kit goes together pretty well and there really isn't a lot to it.
I should have my final WIP pix for it up in the next few days.
For a winter paint scheme I start with a coat of white. Winter camo vehicles have the whitewash applied over the standard paint out in the field. So you have to remember that there's a whole other paintjob underneath. I "reverse dry-brush"; dry-brushing using the base coat underneath (ie. dark yellow, olive green, redbrown). Whitewash tends to have a short lifespan so it tends to wear off quickly. High traffic areas should wear through quickly. Snow can collect dirt and grime and when it accumulates on a vehicle, then melts, it should leave residue. I tend to overdo washes and drybrushing on white vehicles so the details show on photos. It's easy to do way too much.

Well i have news on my build and its not good news ...my compressor died in a big way so i am out guys ..i am now in two minds about this model ..when i get my new compressor ( couple of weeks ) should i finish it then or wait until there is a second Steel Wheels and finish it then .. if its allowed that is ..oh well i'll make my mind up at some point.

I wasn't planning on running a Steel Wheels II, as this campaign was meant to be a follow up to the Military Railroad campaign, however that does one preclude someone else from running one

Sorry for the delay. I've been a bit under the weather this week.
Out of paint. I left the roadwheels dark yellow and masked them off using cling wrap.
Tracks hooked and mounted. I had to staple them. I added a wash of what I call..."rusty muck". The tracks are not good and I'll probably replace them later on so I really didn't spend a lot of time on them. I mainly wanted to knock the black color off.
Skirting on.
Tools painted.
Now to start camo.
I decided to keep it simple and added red-brown irregular striping. I used a brush to apply it and the roughness is intentional.
Tools on.
And now dirties up with washes and dry-brushing. And she's done. Note the picture with the blue background shows the dark yellow more. In real life the overall scheme is a bit more subdued than in the photos.

Bluestab - I'm glad you went with the 1-piece tracks. I try to always use the kit supplied tracks whenever possible
I plan to be done on time. As long as that means Nov. 30, 2014 11:59pm MLT (Modelers' Local Time)
I don't think I need an extension but with that said, if you extend it a couple weeks for other participants that need the time, that's cool with me too

Sal ,, i didnt think of an extension and if you will add like ummmm another maybe 3 to 3.5 weeks then i am pretty sure this will ARV will be sorted ..i should have my new compressor in a week or so the way its looking and that will give me the time to sort this puppy out .

As far as aSteel Wheels II goes I had intended this campaign to be a follow up to the Military Railroad Campaign that I ran. Unfortunately life is getting the better part of me right now and my built time is taking a back seat so I won't be running any campaigns for a while but that don't mean someone else can't step up to be a campaign leader
