Jason Miller is one of the gurus when it comes to Australian armored vehicles. Here's Jason's in-depth build review of newest 1/35 scale model from Trumpeter: ASLAV-PC Phase 3.

Thank you for the review.

About the tie downs, I think etched parts are too thin and not easy to glue, I will replace them with resin parts from Djiti's Productions.

Thanks for the awesome review. Will be using it as a guideline for my RR build. Jason is more like the ASLAV Yoda.

Ahh been waiting for this review.. checking daily. Thankyou Jason for your time and effort. I would of liked to of been a fly on the wall during your build up. I wonder how these kits will be received by the modelling community ? Personally I would rather it be accurate than easy, so reserve my opinion until I see one on a competition table somewhere. But wont be in a hurry to grab one - maybe at the swapmeets in a few years for parts. How much work to get the generator to use is interesting. Ayways great review!

edit
Does this kit have the potential to be converted to Ambo or command to show off an interior? (open ramp)? The difficulty of shaping resin kits is the challenge of incorporating an interior - perhaps mashing the Trumpy superstructure and ramp with a resin deck and hatches could yield an opportunity for interior detail...

Thanks for all the comments guys.
Doing an interior for this kit would not be too hard Adam.
The plastic hull (**) is around scale thickness and the ramp has the anti slip on it as well.

** I have been working on a way to cast my upper hulls to the same thickness as to incorporate interiors. But that's as far as that got so far.

There will be a couple of kits available soon that will fix up most of the Trumpeter problems.

But my question is to you guys, would you prefer the whole upper hull corrected, or just the front end (engine deck/crew commanders cupola)?

Cheers Jason

Thanks Jason for the info. Personally I could not make a call either way without first building the PC from kit form, to catch all the parts that need accurizing to my standards (which may not be as demanding as yours!).

My gut feel is the whole upper already provided by Arms Corps Models is superb and if it ain't broke don't fix it sort of thing. Any $$ saved by producing a half hull correction kit might be regretted by the builder when trying to mate the parts later on (filing and sanding the proposed joint would be challenging without loosing detail. So Gut says whole resin upper status quo.

If I wanted to do interior (that is inevitable evolution of these kits) then the level of scratch building required should mean that a mash up is well within the skills required until a Resin kit with scale walls is available.

I've just purchased this kit from a local hobby shop and like all the models built in the past, I do a lot of research. Jason gives a pretty good, detailed review. Just one thing to note; POL does not stand for Petroleum and other liquids. It is Petrols, Oils and Lubricants.

Mark, you are correct, after checking my old drivers hand book.
Typo me thinks. This is where John (jashby) would pipe up and kick me in the bum.

Cristian, I am having issues with the POL baskets. When we (mouse House and ACM) first did this kit as MA120, the baskets were an issue then too. But, it looks like I may have figured out how to make them work the way I want them to work. The same baskets are on the Type III F/R as well. So those kits are also on hold until I fix this problem.

Cheers Jason
