A new variant of the Sd.Kfz.10 is out from Dragon Models, this one mounting the 2cm FlaK 30, and here Kevin Brant has a look in the box.

Great review .. Looks like another winner for Dragon.. Looking at the decal sheet ,I have never seen a licence plate starting with AA before .. If anyone knows more about that option I'd like to know.
Thanks for the review Kevin.

Like Rick, I haven't seen the AA prefix on a wartime vehicle before. Presumably it's a civilian plate prefix (I know IA was Berlin) which is often seen on impressed vehicles. I suspect this makes this an early vehicle, possibly pre-war supply. Slightly surprised to see no Luftwaffe vehicle license plates though. Those minute tracks look like fun!

There never was a licence plate starting with AA.

I'd say it should read "SS" and either it is a mistake (the A lies next to the S on a standard keybord) or it was done deliberatly to avoid the SS-Runes (IMHO more likely)

Good review Kevin,

There is so much packed into the kit .
A lot of work , gluing the track pads is a nice slow and tedious job but would look the part in the end.
Agree a metal barrel could have been supplied with the model but there are many aftermarket replacements .

I'd like to see Dragon raise the bar and bring the kit out with figures using the gun in action or simply sitting in the vehicle .
Either way I still would like to get this one .

Thanks
Michael

You are absolutely right Ralf, there is no AA. However I think it's unlikely to be an SS vehicle - the letters were in runic form, so don't appear on a keyboard anyway (the SS had special typewriters with the runic symbol on!). Moreover DML are conscious of the ramifications of SS runes, and tend to split them in two on their generic decal sheets. Finally, there are no SS unit insignia supplied. In 1940 this would be down to the LAH key, the "Reich" wolf hook, the Totenkopf or the Politzei star.

Is the gun deck actually new? I remember checking out all the other SdKfz10 reviews when I reviewed the 10 Ausf A recently, and there was already a 10/4 with 2cm Flak 30, kit 6739, reviewed here. This new kit says it is 1940 production rather than 1939, so perhaps it utilises the different rear plate. The 6739 kit also had a brass gun shield, while this kit gets the trailer.
